Why does the strata sector fear transparency? For decades leading #stratatitle stakeholders have wondered why it’s been so challenging to get alignment between the key protagonists. There’s been lots of theories about it which I’ve heard, debated and participated in. Without any clear answers or success. Over that time, I've come to believe that it's the lack of transparency [and in many instances censorship] of strata information]that is the fundamental challenge to be overcome. Just strata sayin … Read the full opinion here … https://lnkd.in/grSGPbQC

In a recent conversation with Helen Kowal, Partner at Swaab, we discussed the repercussions of legislative and regulatory reforms in New South Wales' construction industry. While these reforms are vital for elevating construction standards in both new and existing structures, they've inadvertently sparked a myriad of complexities for strata schemes engaged in remedial projects, building repairs, and upgrades. Some owners corporations are finding themselves having to navigate planning approvals pathways as well as the DBP Act and Regulations. #remedialwork #strata #buildingupgrades #planning #DBPA

This decision could have sweeping implications for the strata industry. If a council can't take action on decisions between strata meetings until that decision is ratified, then wouldn't this force stratas to all have monthly meetings??? 34,000 stratas in the Province X 12 meetings each = 408,000 meetings / 1400 strata managers = You do the math. If a strata manager has 20 buildings in their portfolio that works out to a meeting every night of the week for the year. Is this revealing a shortcoming with the CRT in that the people laying down decisions are not versed in strata or the SPA? Would love to hear from some strata laywers on this. #strata #stratamanagement
