🎂 February 9, 2024, will mark 5 years since operations of a medicine verification system began across Europe and Latvia. 5️⃣ Since the launch of the verification system in Latvia, the number of checked and decommissioned medicine packages has been gradually increasing each year. 📈 ▶ This is primarily due to two reasons – firstly, the first few years of the system’s operation saw a gradual increase in the number of end users and an improved system use experience and quality. ▶ The second reason is the growth of the market and an increase in medicine consumption. In 2023, a total of 107.8 million transactions were carried out in the LZVS, of which 28.8 million correspond to the decommissioning of medicine packages in Latvia as packages were supplied to citizens. This represents a 3% increase compared to 2022.

The absence of a notified body in Denmark has been a major roadblock, hindering the flourishing of our dynamic medtech scene and overall value creation. Start-ups and small to medium enterprises (SMEs) have felt the impact. Historically, this situation has made Denmark and the EU a less attractive market for life science, prompting companies to explore other countries and geographies. At Contura International A/S , we’ve witnessed this firsthand. Life science contributes to over 20% of Danish exports, but the rigide 2017 MDR (Medical Device Regulation) and IVDR (In Vitro Diagnostic Regulation) regulations in the EU have adversely affected growth rates and the number of patents filed according to Medicoindustrien. Generative AI – applications in pharma. Over the coming days, we will be showcasing examples of how gen AI can be used in pharma processes, particularly in medical information, HEOR and marketing. In this brief video (3m 23s), we look at how gen AI can be used to augment the process of checking copy against the PMCPA Code of Practice. Whilst not replacing the human function this assistant can highlight areas that need checking. Coming along we will look at structured literature reviews, applying brand voices to marketing and we’ll provide an update on pharmaGPT (AIRx), our FAERS ADR application and AIMI.
