Professor of Economics & Head of Department at University of Limerick. | Economic Advisor to An Taoiseach | Co-Director of Immersive Software Engineering
Honoured to be appointed Economic Advisor to An Taoiseach, Simon Harris. Thank you all for the kind words, publicly or privately. Economics-related posting here will be limited for obvious reasons but I'll still be bigging up UL whenever I can at all, as I remain Head of Economics at Kemmy Business School U. and Director of Immersive Software Engineering. In particular I’d like to deeply thank Ian Kehoe, Tom Lyons and the team at the The Currency for their support as well as the paper’s readers.
Will certainly miss your writing but it's good to know you have a seat at a table where your ideas can be directly influential. No better man.
Delighted for you my friend - your commitment to public service is beyond measure!
Serious kudos and congrats Stephen Kinsella and they are lucky to have you. This (on top of his willingness to show his anger and his forthright comments on the need for change post the Crotty sentencing) has elevated Simon Harris in my estimation. Smart move on all sides. Here’s to interesting times ahead…..
Welcome aboard. We are lucky to have you.
Wishing you the best 🫡
Congratulations, well done Stephen 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Well deserved and you’ll make a huge, positive difference to this and next generation!
Well done Stephen, delighted for you and great to see your skills been recognised, not only the knowledge but the ability to communicate it. best of luck with this as your success is the country's success
I am so thrilled for you Stephen. We are all so lucky that you are making such an impact with your knowledge and research both in UL and for the country. Thank you.
Congrats on the new role Stephen. The Currency has lost several of its best columnists in the last while, now including yourself, but c'est la vie. If I might be so bold as to make one suggestion as food for thought, there's a gap here for something in #climatetech similar to what you've done with Immersive Software Engineering... Last November the Taoiseach established two new Ireland-UK research co-centres focused on food security and climate, so the roots of such a scheme and the relevant university partners may even be there already. A number of your previous columns have been about #offshorewind and your thinking in that regard, should you have the opportunity, would also be a great addition to policy making. Very best wishes in your new role.
