Lamppost charging takes the spotlight...again ⚡ Another incredible project announced by ubitricity, that will see more than 1000 charge points rolled out across Richmond and Wandsworth. Lamppost charging continually shines as a beacon of innovation, offering a sustainable and convenient solution to EV charging woes, for those living in terraced housing or apartments. In urban areas where space is a premium commodity, utilizing lampposts eliminates the need for additional infrastructure, thereby saving space. By capitalizing on existing infrastructure, councils can avoid the high costs associated with setting up standalone charging stations. Lamppost and bollard charging stations can potentially be everywhere, making it easier for EV owners to find a convenient place to charge their vehicles. First Last-Mile (FLM) Connectivity Services Recommendations to Feed into the South Dade TransitWay Study is now available. This study evaluates the feasibility of implementing new FLM connectivity services to improve accessibility to the South Dade TransitWay Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) stations and facilitate the use of the BRT system, which stretches from the Dadeland South Metrorail Station to SW 344th Street in Florida City. FLM connections are one part of complete BRT trips that leverage high speeds and frequencies to transport riders most of the way with short connections necessary at the beginning and end to complete the total trip. BRT can be thought of as the “trunk” of the trip and FLM as the “branches.” Unlike other modes, transit involves significant capital and operating costs borne directly by the public sector. Offering a quality of transit service comparable to (or better than) other mode choices will help attract strong ridership and make sure the most is made of these investments. 🎉🔋The first five local authorities in England have secured £14.2 million in funding from the UK Government's local electric vehicle infrastructure (LEVI) fund! These local authorities will utilise the funding to revolutionize on-street EV chargepoint infrastructure, ensuring accessibility for residents without off-street parking.🔋🎉 The LEVI fund, a crucial component of the UK Government's commitment to decarbonise transport, reflects the collaborative efforts of the Department for Transport, and the LEVI Support Body. Sagar Mody, PhD, technical consultant for infrastructure strategy at Cenex added: “This is a significant milestone in the LEVI journey to realise the vision of universal chargepoint provision across England. As the UK government aims for sweeping EV adoption by 2030, the role of on-street charging is becoming increasingly evident, and demand is growing. Our progress over the past year, along with our capacity to install up to 400 charge points per month in 2024, underscores our readiness to meet this ambitious goal. While we remain focused on people and sustainable progress, reaching the 3,000 charge point milestone is a moment worth celebrating. The Rozelle Interchange The solution to the Anzac Bridge is quite simple; it’s a matter of loading the 4 eastbound lanes from the 8 or so approach lanes.  The trick is to merge lanes each carrying about the same volume of traffic (900+900vph)(Yes I’m writing this as a quick technical statement). At opening the lane allocations were;  ·       Lanes 1 and 2 from WestConnex a Tollroad; Lane 1 also absorbs traffic from the new Iron Cove Tunnel.   ·       Lane 3 from City West absorbing traffic from the new Airport Tollway  ·       Lane 4 Local Traffic from the Crescent (Stanmore).  ·       Traffic from Victoria Road was Ramp Metered to Lane 4 with bus priority (Cap 200?)     It is immediately evident that the flow of local traffic from Balmain and Rozelle onto Victoria Road (900 -1200) and from City West (600-900) was not appreciated in the design.  Hence a second lane from City West/Airport was added to link to Lane 4, merging with traffic from the Crescent (600- 900).   And yes as more traffic moves over from City West to WestConnex in the next few months then Lanes 3 and 4 will start flowing.   Little impact for Victoria Road. Solution; Lane 1 Merge WestConnex with Iron Cove; Lane 2  Change to merge WestConnex with City West/Airport; Lane 3 Merge City West with The Crescent; Lane 4 exclusive to Victoria Road and Bus Priority.    The maths shows pretty much equal flows at all merges allowing one left one right; the favoured means of optimising downstream flows (see Harbour Bridge)  This could be implemented immediately.  And; as traffic increases on WestConnex the merge on Lane 2 will remain the same, Lane 1 will tend to capacity and push some traffic from the Iron Cove Tunnel to Victoria Road hence filling Lane 4.  It can balance even with the ranges of flows indicates.  Delays will be shared. The full peak hour capacity of WestConnex cannot be accommodated on the Anzac Bridge without delaying local traffic.  Hence the comment that all will be balanced when Harbour Crossing West is completed maybe in 2028 is true.  In the meantime Off Peak will operate to projected “demand” and the Toll revenue will remain the same.   This is a win win. What if commuters do not want to 'share' delays? Any prospect of an American style re-designation of lanes during peak flows, so that traffic can use lanes in harmony with demand? PS: WTF designed this cluster-fuck?

Exciting news! IONITY is ramping up its partnership with EXTRA, the UK’s number one motorway service operator, by adding 12 High-power charging points at Cobham Services in the UK. This increase brings the total of 350kW High-power charging points to 18, aligning with Extra's ambitious plan to become the first MSA operator to surpass the government’s 2022 target of installing at least six EV chargers at each service area on motorways by the end of this year. With prime locations like Cobham offering direct routes to London’s airports and Surrey’s top attractions, along with a range of amenities, the installations are expected to attract a significant number of additional visitors to the site. TDOT advancing new choice lanes in the Midstate “By adding capacity to I‐24 Southeast, a heavily traveled roadway, operations are expected to improve in this major growth area. Choice Lanes provide another option for motorists to bypass congestion, allowing motorists to maintain consistent travel times. The Choice Lanes would be new, optional lanes designed, built, financed, operated, and maintained by a private‐sector partner, selected via a competitive procurement, through a Public‐Private Partnership (P3),” the approved plan reads. According to TDOT, Choice Lanes will provide a new option for Tennessee motorists to bypass congestion and allow for consistent travel speeds. #TDOT #transportation #tennessee
