Meanwhile in Amsterdam... Here is why my kids can ride safely to school. 👇 🚗💨 The 1970s saw Dutch streets full of cars with increasing casualties and degrading quality of life. An oil crisis and citizen protests were the catalysts for change. Due to the citizen protests, the Dutch government massively invested in bike infrastructure. They rolled out a meticulous plan, changing urban landscapes to nurture a biking culture. 🛣️🔄 Today they have the best bike infrastructure in the world! The Netherlands now boasts 35,000 km of cycle paths, ensuring a safe and eco-friendly trip to school for the kids. The byproduct? A generation that values sustainability, health and community. 🚴♀️🍃 ▶️Teenagers pedal about 2,000 km per year. This is comparable to the distance between Amsterdam and Lisbon. Imagine a world where every morning commute cultivates a sense of responsibility towards our planet. Dutch design didn't just craft bike lanes; it engineered a better future. 🌍🔧 Change is a process. Happy Friday! Several of our team members across the globe are taking part in the annual Summa Steps challenge. We're tracking our steps as a friendly competition and a reminder to take care of ourselves! As we head into the weekend, we're keeping the momentum with some fun and creative ways to stay active and rack up those steps: Scavenger Hunt: Create a mini scavenger hunt for yourself or your family. Hide some small items around your house or neighborhood and go on a hunt to find them! Geocaching is a great way to do this and the stuff is already hidden for you! Dance Party: Turn up the music and have a dance-off. Not only is it a great way to get steps in, but it's also a lot of fun! Nature Walk: Explore a new trail or park in your area. Take in the sights and sounds of nature while getting your steps in. Step Challenges with Friends or Family: Challenge a friend or family member to see who can get the most steps in an hour. A little friendly competition can be a great motivator! Chore Workout: Mowing the lawn always boosts my daily step count! Virtual Group Walk: Set up a time to walk with your colleagues virtually. You can all join a video call while walking in your own neighborhoods. Share your ideas in the replies! Stay active and have a fantastic weekend!
