'CARING is CONTAGIOUS' is a MUST for an extraordinary TEAM CULTURE.
Reflecting on my time as CEO at Nuun Hydration, I can't help but emphasize the profound impact of our team culture—one of the most extraordinary I've ever experienced.
Today, my wife and I mark the anniversary of the day our beloved furkid, Sadie, crossed the rainbow bridge. Memories flood back, and it reminds me of how our team embodied care in such a contagious way, going above and beyond at unexpected times to make each other's day, especially when it was needed most.
One poignant example stands out. When Sadie passed away, the nuun team rallied with an outpouring of support toward me and my wife, Kelli. A heartfelt card, flowers, and a flood of emails and texts expressing condolences and love. The impact this had on me rivaled any emotional moment in nuun's journey of highs and lows.
Here's the remarkable part: this radical caring wasn't confined within our team—it spread like wildfire. When Sadie passed away during the sale of the company, the nuun family extended beyond our team. Our Board, investors like TSG Consumer Partners, and banking partners at Houlihan Lokey showered me with unexpected support. And our cherished team, in the game of life, showed up like our friends, family, fans/ambassadors, and community.
It would have been easy to dismiss this as "just a dog." Yet, everyone cared and empathized with the importance that Sadie had in our household. Never underestimate the impact you can have on others. Your voice and care for another just might give the strength they need.
The number one career advice I can offer: CARE.A.LOT. Cultivate a culture where caring for each other and our mission is at the core.
Thriving team chemistry begins with genuine care, and the results naturally follow when you live and breathe this ethos. 💙🚀
