"In its final report, the CSB made a recommendation to TCP Group to develop and implement a process to identify and control, or eliminate, dead legs in high-purity butadiene service. In addition, the CSB identified gaps in industry guidance around the issue of dead legs in butadiene units. A guidance document developed by the American Chemistry Council called the Butadiene Product Stewardship Guidance Manual, is designed to provide general information to companies that may handle or store butadiene. While the manual gives a general overview of popcorn polymer, it does not contain any information on the potential consequences of dead legs or how companies should identify, control, or prevent dead legs. The CSB believes that such additional guidance could have helped to prevent this incidence and could help prevent similar incidents in the future." To be continued ... QUALICOAT & organic coatings approvals  #QUALICOAT is a #quality label for liquid and #powder #coating on #aluminum. It’s widely used in the #façade #industry according to the chain supply and what coating means in terms of the #performances and durability that can add to aluminum in use in buildings, from #corrosion resistance to general weathering to visual aspects. In the industry, it is well known that the applicator, to qualify for the powder coating process, is granted a QAULICAOT label according to their #specifications, backed up by the #ISO standards. However, the powder coating and pretreatment #manufacturer must get the approval and label it QUALICAOT-approved products to have the #standardization line from the start of the process to the buyer. It’s not easy to find the fault if it happens with a chemical/mechanical process with the industry level of inspection as to know precisely, for instance, that the coating is adhesion pass in a particular place, you must conduct a destructive test to tell if the #adhesion is good or not. The best practice is to validate the applicator, the pretreatment manufacturer, and the powder coating manufacturer to ensure the quality you receive is consistent. I would recommend that you validate the approval product code from the QUALICAOT website, followed by an audit of the powder coating manufacturer, primarily if the product is newly produced for the project.
