Technician vs Field Professional We choose Field Professionals at Hoffmann Brothers because the term technician only captures a fraction of what our pros do. Field professionals need to be: 1. Technical Experts They have to be technicians with a thorough understanding of the equipment and how to diagnose problems and make repairs. 2. Psychologists Customers anxiety levels are often times high when our field professional, a stranger, shows up at their home. How much will this cost? Can I trust this person? Our field professionals need to put these customers at ease. 3. Salespeople At the end of the day, our field professionals are responsible for bringing in revenue to the business. The field pros who produce the best results spend the time and energy necessary to educate our customers. Being the technical expert used to be good enough to make a living in the trades. That’s not the case anymore. We need professionals like Justin here in the field. Does that distinction between technician and field professional make sense to you?

Client- How much to do this job? Me- £X Client- Great! Go ahead. (2 hours into job) Client- Can I have a quick chat? Me- Sure! Client- The price for this job is quite high, do you mind explaining the price to me….. Me- (pulling the Danarys face) why didn’t you ask this back when we quoted this for you? Don’t do this to your contractors! It creates the impression that you don’t value their time and skills as much as we ( the tradesmen) value them. Feel like you’re being ripped off and now don’t trust the tradesman doing the job That you’re trying to pull a fast one with the price which only sets off alarm bells for the tradesmen that are most likely doing the job with the trust that you will pay them at the end (No upfront costs). It just creates ill feeling. Ask all questions before the job starts and definitely not when we’re already mid job! #electrician #tradesman #clients

🌎 🛠 In the maintenance world, efficiency and accuracy in the tasks performed on our assets are fundamental to ensuring optimal operation. Let's imagine a scenario where each maintenance technician follows their own method to perform a specific maintenance task, such as a critical complex task that requires a prolonged shutdown or a repetitive one. In this week's video, IDCON Technical Consultant Víctor Abraham Martínez Guerrero will explain the importance of standard job plans in work planning and work execution. https://lnkd.in/esRtiYJS #reliabilityengineer #reliabilityengineering #reliabilitycenteredmaintenance #standards #plannedmaintenance #planningengineer #standardoperatingprocedures #maintenance #maintenancemanagement

Great read Joel!! Is Maintenance a calling or job. That in itself is a crossroads of thoughts. It might be both (pending). First there should be a certain characteristic of a person that one considers "good enough" is not good enough. Machinery and equipment have a particular way be to maintain it to its level of effectiveness and reliability to solidify its ROI. Can one obtain this knowledge base without hands on and years of experience? As one builds their maintenance minded efforts, the path might and should develop from job to calling. Then can have a valuable impact to a company's bottom line instead of just a job role in maintaining only certain equipment verses leading teams or co-workers in equipment lifecycle and management. In conjunction of on-the-job experience with specialized technical training and next level academic certifications or degrees, will then they be on the road to a calling instead of a "job". Calling you would want to gain as much knowledge to be proficient in their field. Is it a calling or job? It might come down to one's though, is it "good enough?"
Is maintenance a calling or a job?

According to a 2023 SHRM benchmark report, the average cost per hire is $4,700. However, the average cost can vary depending on a number of factors, including: The size and location of your business The role you're hiring for The industry in which you operate Whether you're hiring an executive position, which can cost up to $28,000 in recruiting costs most companies can expect to pay between $4,000 and $20,000 to hire a new employee, not including salary and benefits. You can calculate the average cost per hire by dividing the total amount you spend on recruitment annually by how many hires you make in that time period.
