Mr Speaker. While the UK focuses its attention on politicians for the coming weeks, I’ve just had the unusual opportunity of playing one! In my first days of life after DCC, and a summer of saying yes to new adventures as I turn 50, I’ve landed a small role as a belligerent MP in an exciting new period drama to air globally next year. Going head to head with major TV actors in angry exchanges within a packed parliament, and delivering my lines with 200 cast and crew members looking on, has been nerve-wracking but huge fun. Planning to use my new found stern look on the mantelpiece, to keep the kids away from the fire!

So you are the third TASC alumni I’ve seen pop up in various media streams today (like you, I can’t provide spoilers) but certainly making me feel I am a friend of the stars!

Typecast Stephen? Are you allowed to tell us what it’s called yet?

The one being filmed in Saltaire this week with Ralph Fiennes and Jim Broadbent?
