India is considered a cricket nation when it comes to sport but chess is now the fastest growing sport in the country. Indian’s love of chess has exploded in recent years, with the upcoming World Championship between teenage prodigy Gukesh & China’s Ding creating a bidding war to host the match between the cities of Chennai and New Delhi, each bidding $8.5m. Meanwhile, chess sites Chess.com and Lichess.org have seen double digit growth year-on-year in India. I think we will start to see more mainstream sponsors, similar to Superbet, tap into that hyper growth. https://lnkd.in/e5HCMkxT

With the new Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation coming into force in the EU it will be interesting to see how sports teams & leagues handle sponsors who are utilising the "DAO" (decentralised ownership) structure but aren't officially registered with authorities as a DAO. There are already several top-level football clubs with non-registered DAO sponsors. This could lead to sports teams unwittingly breaking EU laws on financial conduct through the advertising of non-compliant crypto assets.

In 2023 you could get away with saying “our product uses AI” as a marketing ploy but as AI becomes more ubiquitous this approach falls flat & appears lazy.

"FOMO" is the worst phenomenon I see in business. FOMO in business is a confirmation bias, a term coined by British psychologist Peter Wason in the 60's. Confirmation bias is a person’s tendency to favor information that confirms their assumptions & is disasterous to decision making. In the era of data i'm still amazed to see how common it is among business leaders & investors to be overwhelmed by their own preconceptions. TL;DR ≥ FOMO https://lnkd.in/ewJArnrq

Most people I speak to have heard of AI but not as many know about RPA (robotic process automation). Most companies that approach me for advice really need RPA first, to improve operational inefficiencies through software in their businesses, rather than AI. https://lnkd.in/efHGp5t7
