It's so important that we as an industry come together and address the topic of sustainability in media. Thank you Alexander Stotz and Prof. Dr. Kai-Marcus Thäsler for inviting us to the Fachverband Aussenwerbung E.v conference. And huge kudos to my fellow panelists Prof. Dr. Alexander Preuß and Andreas -Paul for driving the sustainability transformation together with me.

I was delighted to be invited by ‘Behörden Spiegel’ to take part in the panel discussion on February 27 as part of the 'Tag der Beteiligungsverwaltung 2024' at the Hamburg Chamber of Crafts. It was an interesting discussion with a variety of perspectives on the topic of 'Sustainability reporting and CSRD - How to structure it sensibly for associated companies? It is important and inspiring to be able to think outside the box. Ultimately, everyone faces the same challenges when it comes to sustainability and CSRD. Acting responsibly and promoting sustainability in all aspects - environmental, social and corporate governance - with full commitment, while at the same time pragmatically implementing the growing reporting requirements in the organization. We can all learn from each other here. What do I take away? - If everyone in a group organization implements their own approach, then we won't really get anywhere. That's why Körber, for example, launched the Group-wide sustainability initiative in 2021. Because together we can achieve more for sustainability and can take it to the next level. In the meantime, we have achieved together Ecovadis Gold for the Group in 2023. - Those who take sustainability seriously will also find reporting easier. Körber has anchored sustainability in its corporate strategy and makes a strong promise to its stakeholders, which our more than 12,000 employees around the world work hard to implement every day: Our activities enable a better life for current and future generations' - In general, small companies need support to cope with the complexity of reporting with limited staff: Special thanks are therefore due to the German Sustainability Code, which is committed to making the requirements of the CSRD understandable and manageable, for example, also for craft businesses. Many thanks to Prof. Dr. Ulf Papenfuß for his dedicated moderation of our discussion and to the co-panelists Dr. Simone Hartmann, Robert Gerardi, Swenja Jochimsen, Florian Harrlandt, Prof. Dr. Peter Christoph Lorson. #stronger together #sustainability #koerber

🌱 We are on our way to becoming a climate-neutral and resource-conserving company. 🌍 That is why we are gearing our behaviour and our technology towards CO2 reduction and sustainable production. We see it as our shared social responsibility to ensure that our environment remains liveable. For this reason, our plant in Hohenfels is also a member of the "OHA! Ostbayern handelt" initiative. The OHA! Initiative is creating a strong corporate network for climate protection in which we benefit from each other's experience. 👣 The ecological footprint is not the task of one individual. Only together can we achieve a sustainable improvement for the future. At E-T-A, we have been on a joint "lean and green journey" for more than a decade. Waste-free processes, continuous improvements and trained, highly motivated employees have made it possible to recognise and exploit untapped value creation potential. In the section "Six answers for OHA!", our plant manager in Hohenfels Simon Lottner provides insights into our journey to becoming a climate-neutral company: https://lnkd.in/eTgEAGh8

Europe is at a crossroads, just like the U.S. will be in November. Fortunately, I was able to attend a thought-provoking event in Brussels with Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership (CISL) Corporate Leaders Groups Europe and We Mean Business Coalition yesterday launching their 'Business Agenda for a Sustainable, Competitive and Resilient Europe.' 🎉 A big thanks to the organizers and their teams, especially Roger Martinez-Dolz and Ursula Woodburn. 🙏 Thank you also to Sandrine Dixson-Declève for the inspiring remarks that I am still thinking about today. The very insightful exchange of ideas about the reshaping of European institutions and the challenges of the upcoming legislative term are relevant for anyone with concerns for our future. 💡 Here are some key takeaways from these discussions: 📌 We need more than just one deal, we need several - an industrial deal, a social deal, and economic and political deals to ensure trust, resilience, and better lives for people 📌 Despite the headlines, rigorous polling shows that the majority of people care about the environment and the future of our planet 📌 And of course, for all my comms people - getting the framework and narrative right is critical to ensuring the effectiveness of messages. VELUX remains committed to advocating for sustainable policies and the implementation of a resilient and competitive business model because these practical approaches serve both people and planet. Now I'm carrying the report beyond the 'Brussels bubble' and engaging in some garden reading. 🌷 🔗Full publication linked in the comments, in case you would like to read along.

Welcome to the latest edition of Green Knowledge – now in a brand-new format! But what isn’t new is our ongoing mission to accompany you on your sustainability journey as a go-to source of inspiration and information. At the beginning of the year, we also launched our new Green Knowledge website, where you can regularly access fascinating articles, features and interviews, as well as the latest news on sustainability in fashion. With its revised newspaper format, the print issue you are holding in your hands is designed to complement our online presence and will still be published twice a year to keep you in the loop about all things sustainable. But however you choose to access our content, we hope that we’ll be able to support you all year round and also that we can play our part in building a sustainable community that learns from and grows with one another. In the past few years, we have witnessed remarkable progress in the field of sustainability. More and more people around the world are willing to embrace an eco-conscious mindset as a way of life – or at least it seems that way on the surface. But despite the progress made, one key challenge remains: achieving the symbiosis between sustainability and profitability. It is a balancing act between ethical principles and financial constraints, but can the two really coexist in harmony or are they mutually exclusive? A growing number of insolvencies and declining revenues in the sustainability sector, as Alexander Hitzel, Project Manager at leading trade fair organiser Muveo, tells us in an interview, are evidence of the struggles the fashion business is currently grappling with. Nevertheless, we are convinced that greener solutions will prevail in the future. It’s time to stop seeing sustainability as an optional extra, and instead as a fundamental value that needs to be an integral part of every business model. It’s time to recognise that having a good conscience alone is not enough to solve the urgent environmental problems caused by climate change. It’s time to take the first step and bring everyone on board for a sustainable future. Even though the path ahead may be rocky, at the end of the day all the profits and revenues in the world cannot safeguard our planet for future generations. So let’s work together to make sure that sustainability moves out of its niche and into the mainstream, as well as becoming economically viable in the process. We hope you enjoy reading this latest issue. Your Green Knowledge team #sustainability #greenknowledge #printissue #outnow #newsoftheday Cover: Feline Sasse

Provi hosted a wildly fascinating roundtable titled "Rise of the Conscious Consumer" which addressed the intersection of diversity and profitability in the Wine & Spirits industry. #wine & #spirits Thank you to Dia Simms (Exec. Chairwoman of Lobos 1707 Tequila & Mezcal), Nicolas Beckers (President & CEO of Rémy Cointreau Americas), Jackie Summers (President & CEO of Jack From Brooklyn / Sorel Liqueur), Chris Swonger (President & CEO of the Distilled Spirits Council of the United States), and Courtney Schiessl Magrini (Editor in Chief of SevenFifty Daily). It was inspiring to listen to a panel of industry leaders from varying races, nationalities, and backgrounds as they discussed a shared message- Diversity is not just a moral imperative, but a proven path to profitability! Dia Simms said, "We vote with our ballots AND with our wallets" to promote what we believe in and choose to support. In today's global marketplace, consumers come from all walks of life and they want to see themselves reflected in the products they select. For brands/companies to treat each and every customer like they truly matter is not only the right thing to do but also a powerful business strategy. When you make diversity and inclusion a priority, you create a welcoming environment that encourages people to connect with your brand and invest in your products. To reinforce the point that diversity is not just a buzzword, Nicolas Beckers stressed the value of authenticity. "Diversity is not just some campaign. And, if truly authentic, your consumers will recognize the brand for that." An action item set forth by Jackie Summers was for us to "drink at different bars with people different from ourselves." Treat your consumers like they truly matter, because at the end of the day- you're nothing without them. #wine #spirits #wineindustry #spiritsindustry #alcoholicbeverages #alcoholfree #diversity #diversityandinclusion #profitability #wineandspirits #businesssuccess #dotherightthing #consumers #equity Diageo

At SLR, we love to be part of current discussions around ESG and sustainability and enable them whenever we can. Recently, our team in Germany came back from a day packed with discussions around sustainability and corporate social responsibility, sponsoring Berlin’s CSRcamp in September. The CSRcamp is an open, participatory dialogue-event based on the BarCamp principle. This means that the event programme is not planned in advance with the usual panels and talks around sustainability, but negotiated by the participants at the beginning. So only what really interested the participants made the day’s agenda, moderated by other participants speaking at eye level. As we are about Making Sustainability Happen, SLR’s Daniel Silberhorn BMIPRA Silberhorn pitched and indeed was given the green light by the audience to speak about how to motivate people to be part of sustainability transformation within an organization, and to moderate a lively and practical discussion in our very own SLR breakout room on how to achieve sustainable change in implementing ESG. “The energy and discussion among people was great,” Daniel said after the event. “With the format bringing up exactly what is most important on people's minds, we might leverage BarCamp-style events in supporting clients’ sustainability implementation, increasing involvement and participation at the right points in their sustainability journey. The CSRCamp was a great success.” Supported by SLR and others, around 40 sustainability and CSR stakeholders from companies, universities and from civil society came together to discuss a broad range of sustainability topics, from ‘Communicating CSR in an honest and transparent way’, ‘The significance of sustainability visions’, and ‘Implementation of the German supply chain law’ to ‘CSR reporting requirements’ or ‘digital responsibility’. #CSR #ESG #Sustainability #SLRevents
