Unexpected shoppers 👀 surprised to see The Walt Disney Company characters come to life in the digital OOH experience 💫 by Grand Visual. They developed an augmented reality experience 'The Disney Shadows’ mimicked and interacted with participants live through a multi-projection system from their studio built behind the facade. 🕖 Classic from 2015. 🤔 This could now be created without actors, we could use real-time animated characters or even a generative system to have live surprise interactions between shoppers and IP characters... a scenario where the audience would capture their own content to share and achieve an even bigger reach potentially. This experience was produced in order to capture real people interacting and enjoying the brand experience and was turned into a social film seen by 300m. #retailexperience #shopping #brandexperience #disney #themedentertainment

Love this Stephan - tho it would help to put the date [2015] in as an edit as it would make more sense of the 2nd paragraph. For me, this was such a great 'advert' because the magic was that viewers of the film thought it probably WAS an AR experience, rather than a 'real' experience, let alone, just an advert. Magic on magic on film. Disney in adworld.

Yeah but the charm is in the acting. They’re not perfectly mimicking the participants, and in some cases they’re toying with them and conversing with them based on body language. Way more charming than if a CGI Goofy were to track and mimic a padestrian.

I produced this (and my son and husband were in it). If I had to produce it using AI, the video would have no point.

This could be created without actors in 2015. You cut out what I think is the gist of this installation: the big reveals at the end and when those cartoon characters walk out and interact with the guests. They intened to make it looks like computer generated at the beginning.

Stephan Bischof Grand Visual how about removing those actors and letting the public control the characters with Move AI's realtime markerless motion capture system? Check out what Nike are doing with it - https://www.linkedin.com/posts/oneillmodernmedia_experiences-ai-nike-activity-7212397049156153344-EvWu?utm_source=share&utm_medium=member_desktop

Thanks for sharing - It's a classic! 🙌

Stephan Bischof If we recreated this experience with Miirage and our friends at Performit Live, we could turn engagement up to 11!
