This month saw the EU approve a new framework of regulations on the use of AI in the EU, creatively called the 'EU AI Act'. How to effectively manage Data Governance across multiple markets. Managing data governance across one organisation can be a bit of a challenge, so how do you do it across multiple markets? The message from Kudzayi is one that we preach ourselves. There is no use trying to be the single source of control, quite simply because it’s not a scalable, efficient way to operate. Not only that, there are geographical nuances that must be understood to make sure that the data governance framework is as robust and effective as possible. So how do you manage a global data governance framework? 1. Understand local nuances Gather insights from local teams to understand specific needs and regulatory landscapes. 2. Spot commonalities Centralise and review the insights to spot repeat trends and requirements that can standardised 3. Establish principles and frameworks Establish a global set of principles and frameworks that factor in the commonalities but leave wiggle room for local nuances. These are essentially barriers that teams must operate within. 4. Promote local autonomy Provide flexibility in tools and methodologies within the established framework.
