An excellent article by my colleague Sean Garvey in Australia exploring the dynamic of a Founder CEO and their own value journey. Can a Founder ever become a derailer of the business they created? How can they avoid that happening? A great read.
"Organ Rejection"—In the scaling phase of a business, this term describes the critical juncture where a founder, once the embodiment of the company’s culture, risks becoming its Achilles' heel. Founders are central to their startups’ DNA and can be catalysts for their downfall. Delighted to share my latest article published in SmartCompany. Recessions are often periods of innovation and, perhaps surprisingly for some, investment. But the growing interest of CEOs in the development of companies could reveal that large companies have gone shopping or for start-ups. It is good when it is so, only the percentage of decision-makers who manage to grow their companies happens is small. #flarezz #growth #customer #centricity #trust

"Research suggests that when a woman is on the investing team, a female entrepreneur is 70% more likely to be funded than if no women are on the team. And VC firms with at least 10% female investing partners have 1.5% better fund returns and 9.7% more profitable exits." Great insights from Fast Company and shared by Springboard Enterprises to bring more investors to invest in women-founded and co-founded companies.

Leadership is often considered the differentiating factor between a successful startup and an unsuccessful one. In that same vein, previously successful founders often have an easier time raising capital for a new business than those who have yet to build key relationships with private equity. Entrepreneurs can learn from this dynamic by looking at their leadership as a reflection of the culture, values, and vision that exist therein, by representing something bigger than yourself, you can make those lasting conventions that really matter to stakeholders, employees, and customers. #Leadership #VentureCapital #PrivateEquity #Innovation

Head of Global Brands Innovation, Marketing @ Anheuser Busch InBev | Columbia Business School, MBA | Co-Founder & CEO of Nightingale
It was an honor to be included on this panel of dynamic founders, innovators, CEOs & investors where we talked to over 100 of Columbia Women in Business! I shared my thoughts about intrapreneurship & defined what success in entrepreneurship means to me: Today many corporations are looking to spark innovation and are doing so by embracing “intrapreneurship”—essentially, the idea of entrepreneurship within a traditional workplace. Building my startup, Nightingale, taught me selling/storytelling, perseverance, and how to fall in love with the consumer problem. These skills are some of the greatest assets I bring to my current role leading innovation globally for Michelob Ultra, Budweiser, Corona & Stella Artois. I am excited that corporate workplaces are starting to shed their fear that entrepreneurs are risky hires and instead embracing Intrapreneurs! -- Success looks different for every company & every founder… When I first set out building Nightingale, I sat with my co-founder to decide what success meant for us. We decided that it was 'building a business that helps others AND allows us to pursue our corporate ambitions.' So, we set one clear goal: upon graduating business school, we wanted to have a fully autonomous company that required little day-to-day maintenance. Two years later, we hit this milestone and started our full time jobs while maintaining our 'side-hustle'. Had I not set this goal two years earlier, it would have been easy to compare myself to my peers raising venture capital or measuring their success through customer acquisition. But success to me really is about reaching your own goals and creating a life & career that is fulfilling to you! And it wouldn't be a Women in Business conference if we didn't discuss what all this means in the context of being a female in these circumstances. Instead of me trying to summarize, check out the short article I wrote for Forbes here: https://lnkd.in/gvi6fxkS

Exciting news! I have recently partnered up with some incredible women to create Seed Through Series. Seed Through Series is a team with more than 45 years of combined expertise in the technology space. We empower organizations with GTM insights, growth-driving B2B marketing & sales strategy to deliver on top-line revenue. As I reflected on my experience and challenges I’ve seen first hand with young founders, it became apparent there was an area of opportunity. Tiffany Hicks, who I introduced to a friend/founder, was already working to make an impact on their business through consulting and instituting new processes. The more I spoke to her about the work she was doing, the more excited I got. When she let me know her long time friend and ex Googler Cailin LaVallee was joining on, things began to fall in place. Leveraging my extensive expertise in sales and sales leadership, we discussed where I could make an impact and I decided to join as founding partner. I’m reaching out to you simply to ask that you keep us in mind. We’re open to conversations with anyone you think could benefit, but here is where we best play: - Seed through Series B startups and small to midsize companies in B2B SaaS, Fintech, Healthcare, Clean Energy, and AI - Founders or Leaders looking to reach profitability or meet their revenue goals faster - Mission driven good people If you know anyone who fits the bill please shoot me a DM or learn more at:
