This week, I concentrated on digitally illustrating rotifers—a phylum of microscopic pseudocoelomate multicellular animals. Specifically, my focus was on the "Philodina sp." found in cryoconite holes on the Antarctic continent. Thanks to Lara Vimercati for providing reference information!! #rotifers #scientificillustration #digitalart #digitalillustration #artandscience #philodina #cryoconite #antarctica #sciencecommunication #adobephotoshop

In these days it is important to improve our knowledge of our "best neighbor" #Mars (the toxic atmosphere make #Venus more interesting than friendly for next colonization missions): having a full detailed map of the red planet could help the next human missions on the planet. A new #GiantVolcano and also a possible sheet of buried glacier ice in the eastern part of Mars’ Tharsis volcanic province, near the planet’s equator, make this zone really interesting. #NASA #MarsReconnaissanceOrbiter #SETI

NEW GIANT VOLCANO ON MARS Happy to announce our discovery of a giant volcano on Mars. It's ancient, deeply eroded, but was active relatively recently and likely still has shallow glacier ice. And it's near the equator. Here's our news release with links to relevant LPSC abstracts: https://t.ly/UEuEO SETI Institute, Mars Institute, Sourabh Shubham

Congrats! But, did you know Mars is also home to SEIS-SP and the SEIS-VBB seismometers? The SEIS-SP is the higher frequency sensor that uses www.kinemetrics.inc patented MEMS technology and electronics designed by Kinemetrics. Our ExoMars and Mars Express missions have spotted water frost for the first time near Mars’s equator, a part of the planet where it was thought impossible for frost to exist. The frost sits atop the Tharsis volcanoes: the tallest volcanoes not only on Mars but in the Solar System. Full story here: ESA - Frosty volcanoes discovered in Mars’s tropics.

66 million years ago, our planet was struck by a missile from space, leading to one of the largest extincts in its history and putting an end to the reign of large reptiles of the Mesozoic era. The consequence of the cosmic "incident" was violent volcanic eruptions, earthquakes and climate change caused by global fires and dust blown into the atmosphere. If one of the so called looked like this The "Great Filters" proposed by Nick Bostrom, our animal ancestors, mammals, succeeded in passing the exam. However, would mankind be able to deal with such a threat right now, and if not, how can we try to survive such an apocalypse? We encourage you to familiarize yourself with the latest video on Melodysheep channel, where an attempt to answer these questions is made. #PFFN_Postapo #Asteroids #MassExtinction https://lnkd.in/dECBDv3N

10-8-2023: axis: 1. an imaginary line through the centre of an object, around which the object turns - Mars takes longer to revolve on its axis than the earth 4. (formal) an agreement or alliance between two or more countries - the franco-german axis (Oxford)
