Since we joined the The National Bus Fare Cap Scheme in January 2023, over 160 million passenger journeys have been made using a £2 single fare with us! That's a lot of people getting to where they need to be by bus and why we're excited to confirm our continued participation in the scheme until the 31st December 2024. Just one double-decker bus can take up to 75 cars off our roads, so for your next adventure, pay no more than £2 for a single fare* and pick the sustainable and cost-effective choice with Stagecoach. *Restrictions apply, please check our website for further information. American bus stations are being shut Bus stations in America are being closed down due to the fact that flats and offices provide more lucrative returns for investors. This closure of bus stations has led to limited options for people, who are now left with the choices of either using cars or staying at home. However, in order to ensure that citizens are still able to travel, it is necessary to establish inter-modal stations that provide a variety of transportation options such as car and bike parking, trains, buses, and both urban and intercity transport. These stations would help to maintain mobility for individuals and reduce reliance on private vehicles or being confined to one's home. https://buff.ly/4aASZhJ #Busandmobility #bus #coach #Future #IntercityTravel

Public Transport is a social service and, as such, should not be a political tool to drive popularity. There are a number of benefits in charging for access to public transport, and it drives good consumer interactions and engagement. There are means to make public transport more accessible through concessionary solutions, and making sure that free fares don't equate to an increase in automotive use.

Decarbonising the UK's fleets | Fleet Wise Trusted Expert 2024 | Save energy, costs, & reduce emissions | Focus Net Zero Founder |
If we really want to take a big chunk out of carbon out of the transport sector, trains play a massive part. I use them often because for me the station is a short bike ride from my house, and I can work whilst travelling. But I find trying to convince people to consider them harder than switching to EV. As this story illustrates, it can be a minefield using them. There is a feeling of 'insider' knowledge you need to get the best deal and use the train. On top of this, the cost, reliability issues, connectivity to and from stations, overcrowding etc... is hardly encouragement for people to think twice about taking the car. But it is certainly something people care about and feel strongly about. In September 2022 I did a post on a particular train journey I did and it got over 4 million impressions, and 32k reactions. People had strong opinions! My laptop practically melted. Having a good, reliable, affordable, public transport system will do wonders for decarbonisation. How do we get there though? Answers on a postcard please.... https://lnkd.in/d3mdynt2

65% growth - yes you read that right In predominantly rural territory too. This is what can happen when you take a systematic approach to a long distance bus route upgrade. It’s about more than replacing an old diesel bus with a new electric bus and giving yourself a pat on the back- it’s about using the opportunity for: - a carefully planned and thought through approach to fares and the timetable - high spec interiors for the vehicles - targeted promotions I’ve been on it and it is a prime example of how the more can be greater than the sum of the parts. It’s also an indicator of what can be achieved through public control of buses in Wales.

One thing I've always wondered about buses 🚎 Shouldn't the price of your ticket depend on the distance you travel? In the UK it is a flat fee of about £2 no matter how many stops you are travelling between.🤔 I was reminded of that recently when needing to escape the rain walking home - jumped on the bus for 1 stop and cost me 2 quid 😅 Is this issue just the technology required to tap out, quicky? Do other countries have a more value-based system that works? Thoughts? #bus #transport #pricing

Over half of London’s black cabs are zero emission capable (ZEC), Transport for London has reported. Since 2018, all newly licensed taxis in London have been required to be ZEC, meaning that they must be able to travel a minimum of 20 miles with zero emissions. Currently, out of the total fleet of 14,960 black cabs, 7,972 are zero emission capable, a figure that has increased by 10% in the last six months. Deputy Mayor for Transport Seb Dance said: "With continued financial support and further investment in rapid charging infrastructure, cabbies will keep working towards a fully zero-emission fleet, whilst providing the same high-quality, reliable, accessible service London's taxis are known for." Zest has signed contracts to deploy over 100 new rapid charging bays across the TfL network. This partnership, as part of the Mayor’s Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Delivery (EVID) project, will help black cab drivers to achieve a zero-emission fleet, whilst supporting further transport decarbonisation strategies across the city. #TransportDecarbonisation #BlackCabs #London #TfL https://lnkd.in/eGy-dgHD
