I'll be honest, #SalaryNegotiation was definitely one of my weak points as a #TransitioningVeteran. For 30 years, I was fully aware of what I would make in current/future roles/ranks but as a civilian, I found it was up to me to determine my worth, based on my unique training, education, and experience. Unfortunately, there's no crystal ball that will tell you what you should expect for your first job in civilian attire, but this article sheds a little light on how to begin the process of determining where to start the calculation. Here are some key points that might be covered in a Salary Negotiations: 1. Research and Preparation: - Understanding industry salary standards. - Researching the average salary for your role in your specific geographic location. - Considering your experience, skills, and education when determining your value. 2. Determining Your Worth: - Assessing your skills, accomplishments, and qualifications. - Knowing how to quantify and articulate your contributions to demonstrate your value to the organization. - Recognizing the unique value, you bring to the position. 3.
