Some thoughts. 1) My paternal grandmother told me her personal stories about fighting for the right to vote. I'm so proud of her and all the strong women on both sides of my family, including of course my daughter. (See thought number 6 below and why this is a holiday and how it's relevant to my grandmother's stories.) 2) I really like the word 'parity' especially in regard to equal pay for equal efforts. 3) It's well known that many health conditions or diseases that affect women only are not given their fair share of research dollars and attention. I've had two dear friends affected by ovarian cancer, and this group is trying to fight for gender equity and women's health: https://lnkd.in/gUz4nDif 4) I looked for who to attribute this to but could not find the author, and so I'm probably not quoting this exactly: "Gender equity means human equity. It is important to us all." 5) I love this Maya Angelou quotation: "Each time a woman stands up for herself she stands up for all women." 6) August 26 is Women's Equality Day, a national holiday in the United States that commemorates the passage of the 19th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, which granted women the right to vote. This year marks the 100th anniversary of the passage of the 19th Amendment, and it is a time to celebrate the progress that women have made in the fight for equality, as well as to recommit to the work that still needs to be done.
Though today is National #WomensEqualityDay, we celebrate women's equality not just today, but everyday. However today especially, celebrates the achievements of women's' rights activists and is a reminder of the unique struggles women still face on a daily basis. We hope that you spend today surrounded by women who inspire, challenge, and uplift you! ✨ #shapingthought #womensrights #womensupportingwomen

Women from every background have long realized that an uneven playing field will never bring equality or justice. The National Women's History Month theme for 2024 celebrates "Women Who Advocate for Equity, Diversity and Inclusion." The theme recognizes women throughout the country who understand that, for a positive future, we need to eliminate bias and discrimination entirely from our lives and institutions. Two things I feel passionately about, together and worthy of celebration! Love to see women taking on more roles in the energy sector, making our planet a happier, healthier place! And as a minority woman who owns two businesses myself, it makes me especially happy to see more women breaking boundaries and entering fields where they are not the majority. #womeninenergy #womenownedbusiness #minorityownedbusiness #lumixcpa #cpa
