I just read "Talent Wins" by Charan, Barton, Carey (2018). 💡 The main message of the book is that companies should use and manage human capital as effectively as financial capital to drive success. In the book, there are good tips for executives on how to become a more talent-driven organization. The diversity aspect might have been emphasized more if the book had been written today. The CEO talent checklist offers guidance and a starting point that can be applied at any stage of the company. ✔ Hold weekly joint meetings with your CFO and CHRO to steer the company (or your key people responsible for finance and human resources). ✔ Stay engaged with those in your critical 2% (a guideline, depending on the size of your organization), know them personally, and sponsor many of them. Continually look outside the organization to add to their ranks. ✔ Prioritize talent on the board agenda, alongside strategy, risk, and compliance issues. ✔ Consider the talent implications of any strategic move and identify leaders who will drive value (change). ✔ Pay as much attention to developing and executing the talent strategy as you do to product or competitive strategy. #talentmanagement #talentstrategy #growlane

Navigating the Human-Machine Partnership in Finance In the ever-evolving landscape of finance, the union between humans and machines is undeniable and essential. While most finance professionals are adept at leveraging technology, the journey hasn't always been seamless. Migration and upgrades often bring challenges, with consultants/interim managers playing a pivotal role. The key lies in understanding that efficiency issues may not solely be a result of human error. These issues can stem from human resistance to change, misunderstood processes, and primarily, from inadequate human onboarding—blaming stakeholders' capacity to change. Consultants/interim managers must prioritize the human experience, fostering collaboration rather than assigning blame (even worse, personal ones).
