We’re at a critical turning point in the use of biosimilars in health care. They can help increase access to care, control costs and improve health outcomes for patients navigating complex medical conditions.    CVS Caremark is the first pharmacy benefits manager to include a biosimilar in its formulary. As the U.S. pharmaceutical landscape continues to evolve, biosimilars are one of the biggest opportunities for reducing drug costs for employers and consumers. For the past year, CVS Health has been building a strong team of individuals dedicated to increasing access to quality biosimilars for patients. In collaboration with CVS Health’s Cordavis subsidiary, the launch of Hyrimoz is just one example of the culmination of these efforts. I’m proud of this growing Cordavis team and of their commitment to increasing access to critical medications. 

It is truly an honor to be named one of Modern Healthcare's 50 Most Influential Clinical Executives. I’m grateful to all the people who have supported me throughout my career – from my mentors, health care teams, leaders and my patients who have put their trust in me.  Every day, I’m inspired by the health care professionals I work with and have the utmost respect for. They all share my commitment to clinical integrity and to transforming health care – making sure it’s accessible and affordable. I want to congratulate all the clinicians who are on this year’s list. I’m in very good company! I also want to give a special congrats to my colleague Dr. Marisa Rogers, Chief Medical Officer of Oak Street Health, for being recognized. Thank you, Dr. Rogers, for all that you do to ensure the people we serve receive quality care. 

Telehealth is an essential care modality that helps address gaps in care, increase access and reduce costs. I am proud to be the new board chair of American Telemedicine Association, which is a driving force in the evolution of telehealth. During ATA Nexus 2024 last month, we talked about the future of telehealth and the need for a practice framework centered on clinical integrity to help build patient trust. Thank you to all who joined us in Phoenix and to those helping to deliver care when and how patients need it.

This week, I enjoyed moderating a fireside chat during our Company Town Hall with my colleagues in Medical Affairs, Dr. Michelle Gourdine, Senior Vice President and Chief Medical Officer, CVS Caremark, and Dr. Paige Wickner MPH, Vice President of Medical Affairs, and head of CVS Health's component patient safety organization, Enterprise Patient Safety Organization, about the value of trust in health care.     Every day, millions of people across the country put their trust in CVS Health and look to us to provide safe, high-quality care. And according to Morning Consult’s 2022 “Most Trusted Brands” Report, CVS Health is the most trusted brand in health care. We know very well that trust must be earned. It is the invisible bond that connects health care providers with their patients, ensuring that the advice given and treatments prescribed are followed with confidence. And trust in health care results in better health outcomes for people.     That’s why we’ll continue to have trust at the center of everything we do. Managing our mental health is just as important as caring for our physical health. CVS Health's new survey reveals that mental health concerns among people across the country continue to rise. Sixty-five percent of adults worry about their own mental health or the mental health of their friends and family.   Now more than ever, we need to help ensure people have access to mental health services – in-person and virtual.
