To end what has been an AMAZING week for our Redeploy youth program participants, our Workforce and Economic Empowerment Department scheduled a special trip to Riverside Stables. This field trip introduced the youth to alternative coping mechanisms and the therapeutic advantages of animal stress relief therapy.
Our Redeploy program focuses on guiding youth toward positive life choices, personal growth, and emotional balance and stability.
Animal stress relief therapy, also known as equine therapy, has been shown to positively impact individuals dealing with emotional challenges. Engaging with animals, particularly horses, can encourage feelings of tranquility and relaxation while aiding in the development of valuable coping skills.
We value every individual that walks through the doors of the Springfield Urban League.

📽️ REPLAY AVAILABLE: COPING WITH THE LOSS OF A TRAINED ANIMAL
This heartfelt and insightful video explores the profound impact of losing a trained animal and how to cope with such a loss. Whether you've experienced the passing of an animal you trained or are supporting someone who has, this video addresses the unique bond formed through training and the deep sense of loss that can follow. We delve into the reinforcement history, shared experiences, and specialized skills that can make trained animals irreplaceable. We also examine their significant roles in the community, conservation efforts, and scientific discovery, highlighting the broader impact of their loss.
An exploration of the stages of grief offers a scientific perspective on the emotional journey, paralleling the process of behavioral extinction. We discuss traditional methods for coping with grief, such as ceremonies, memorials, art, spaces of remembrance, and connecting with others who understand the loss. Additionally, the video introduces constructional approaches to turn grief into growth, encouraging the development of new behaviors inspired by the animal's legacy.
By recognizing the significance of the loss and employing various coping strategies, we can navigate through grief and find ways to honor and celebrate the lives of trained animals. Watch the replay now! https://lnkd.in/gNPNaT6J

As summer temperatures rise, it's crucial to remember that our pets feel the heat just as much as we do. Ensure your furry friends stay hydrated, avoid walking them during peak heat hours, and never leave them in a parked car. Let's keep our pets safe and comfortable during these hotter days. 🐾💧 #PetCare#HeatSafety#ResponsiblePetOwnership#PetVetCareCenters#VetMed#SummerHeat
This summer has been extraordinarily HOT, which means our hospitals are seeing an increase in cases like heat stroke and burnt paw pads. Please remember that a normal body temperature for dogs and cats is 101-102.5 degrees and they also have fur/hair. The hot temperatures can turn deadly in a matter of minutes. #HeatStroke#SummerWeather#PetVetPSA
