It gives me great pleasure to announce the introduction of an innovative program aimed at combatting childhood obesity by leveraging the proven strategies of our Adhera Caring Digital Program. This new initiative is the result of a renewed collaboration with esteemed institutions such as the University Hospital Miguel Servet, the University of Sevilla, and the University of Valencia. The program is set to incorporate valuable insights gained from our clinically validated Growth Hormone Therapy and Type 1 Diabetes programs. Addressing the worldwide concern of childhood obesity, we are confident in the transformative potential of digital health technology to drive significant and lasting change. This collaboration is an expansion of our successful CARING T1D and CARING studies. These studies had already shown promising results, revealing that alleviating depression, anxiety, and stress in family caregivers enhanced their children's adherence to treatment protocols. This, in turn, led to improved health outcomes for the entire family. We are excited about the potential of replicating these positive outcomes in the realm of childhood obesity. Keep an eye on our journey as we strive to transform lives and foster healthier futures for children and families worldwide. https://lnkd.in/g3mVZ2eB #ChildhoodObesity #digitalhealth #familycaregivers

More than 90% of individuals suffering from obesity do not receive medical treatment for obesity. That’s a staggering statistic. The findings in a newly published study suggest that all weight management treatment options can be effective. The challenge is helping patients find a treatment that works for them and that they can stick with over time. Our health systems are unfortunately designed to provide care for the effects of untreated obesity. But they carefully and deliberately deny access to obesity care. Moreover, primary care physicians and other providers may not have time during regular appointments, or specialized training, to handle all aspects of weight management treatment. Which is why obesity medicine trained healthcare professionals are vital. #obesitymedicine #treatorrefer

Although many available weight loss therapies are safe and effective for patients to use, it can be challenging for clinicians to initiate conversations about weight with their patients. In this educational activity, Dr. Charles Vega discusses the benefits of weight-loss therapy for patients with obesity and models patient-centric, motivational counseling dialogue for encouraging the use of these treatments. Joking but serious (1) DECEMBER Constipation Awareness Month Constipation Awareness Month, a global healthcare event, that has been observed annually throughout December. Various organisations both global and local, join together during this month to conduct awareness campaigns and activities with the aim to educate people about the condition, its complications, and preventive measures for constipation. Importance for Constipation Awareness Constipation is a frequent gastrointestinal condition, that affects people of all ages, with a prevalence of around 20% in the general population and 29.6% in children. Constipation is more common in the elderly than in the younger population. Elderly women suffer from severe constipation more frequently (two to three times) than male counterparts. The most common type of constipation is normal-transit, where the traverse of the stool through the colon and its frequency may be normal, but patients nevertheless feel constipated. Women mostly face slow-transit constipation, where a reduction in colonic motor activity combined with a significantly diminished colonic responses are observed following a meal and on awakening in the morning. Pelvic floor dysfunction is another type of constipation where the person is unable to correctly relax and coordinate the muscles in the pelvic floor in order to have a bowel movement. Constipation Causes There are many factors that contribute to constipation, which might include: Low fiber diet Caffeine abuse Overuse of alcohol Medications Endocrine disorders (hypothyroid) Neurologic disease (neuropathy) Psychological issues Most paediatric patients benefit from medical treatment, but in adults’ constipation has a poor prognosis; it seriously affects the quality of life. Factors that are associated with a worse prognosis are as follows: Female gender Occurrence in geriatric patients (old age) Longer time between onset of symptoms and initiation of treatment Longer colonic transit time. #December #Constipation #Constipation_Awareness_Month #old_age #Female_gender #caffeine #alcohol #intestinal_cancer
