Happy October 7th 🍁🏈🎃🍻🍂 October 7th holds significance for various reasons, including historical events, cultural observances, and personal milestones. Here are a few notable events associated with October 7th: 1. Historical Events: - In 1571, the Battle of Lepanto took place, which was a significant naval engagement between the Holy League (a coalition of Catholic maritime states) and the Ottoman Empire. - In 1765, the Stamp Act Congress convened in New York City, marking an important event in the American colonies' opposition to British taxation policies. - In 1919, the KLM Royal Dutch Airlines was established, making it the world's oldest airline still operating under its original name. 2. Cultural Observances: - In some countries, October 7th is celebrated as World Habitat Day, emphasizing the importance of adequate shelter and sustainable urban development. - In the Catholic Church, October 7th is the feast day of Our Lady of the Rosary, which commemorates the intercession of the Virgin Mary in the Battle of Lepanto. 3. Personal Milestones: - October 7th holds personal significance for individuals who celebrate their birthdays or anniversaries on this date. It's worth noting that there are numerous other events and observances associated with October 7th, but the significance can vary depending on one's cultural, historical, or personal perspective. I think this is such a bonkers idea on so many levels 1. It shows us up as weak - we achieve something as a country and we all get on the p*ss and can't be bothered working - what happened to 'what's next' - it's not how winners behave, celebrate yes but train the next day... 2. The pubs will be full anyway, regardless of the next day 3. Not everyone likes football 4. We didn't have (and I don't remember loads of calls for) a bank holiday for the women winning the euros 5. As above for the Cricketers winning the world cup 6. What about other sports or major achievements - we very often punch above our weight in the Olympics - say we finish 3rd in the medals table (which would be a far bigger achievement) do we have another random day off 7. It's too hard to implement at too short notice and won't be a bank holiday for the vast majority 8. What about everyone with a hospital / doctors / dentist etc appointment on Monday - they get cancelled because those workers absolutely should be treated to the treat - retail AND hospitality won't be able to rejig rosters and will have to foot the bill for 'bank holiday' pay 9. Let's not even mention the direct correlation to 'on the p*ss' and the rise in domestic violence Bonkers!

It is a Happy new month from this end 💕 ❤️ 😍 Sure, it gonna be a season of love and wellness both for mind and body... Everyone deserves to be loved irrespective of Class but for an adolescent, seeing this time is a beautiful mix of potential, confusion, and fierce emotions. Loving them can feel exciting, terrifying, and full of unexpected drops. But here's the thing: love thrives in these wild landscapes. I am going to draw lessons from the Holy Scripture most especially 1 Corinthians 13, which begins to give us what Love is. Here's how we can adapt its wisdom to embrace our adolescent loved ones: 1. "Love is patient, love is kind..." Patience becomes our superpower, seeing they're navigating a complex identity shift. Kindness offers a safe space for exploration, even when mistakes happen. 2. "...it does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud." ditch comparisons and celebrates their unique journey. Their achievements are theirs to own, and boasting for them takes away their moment. 3. "Love does not dishonour others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered..." Respect goes both ways. Their boundaries deserve consideration, and their opinions, even if different, deserve to be heard. 4. "...it keeps no record of wrongs." We all make mistakes. Forgiveness and understanding pave the way for growth, not holding grudges. 5. "Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth..." Guide them, don't control them. Celebrate their honesty, even when it's uncomfortable, and help them discern truth from negativity. 6. "It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres." Be their safe harbour, even in choppy waters. Trust their good intentions, nurture hope for their future, and never give up on them. Loving an adolescent isn't easy, but the rewards are immeasurable and 1 Corinthians 13 isn't a checklist, but a compass. Let's love with open hearts, unwavering patience, and the knowledge that even on the craziest rollercoaster rides, love is the ultimate thrill. Adolescents in Africa deserved to be loved ❤️. Have a love-filled February. #Love #Adolescence #adolescencehealth #Teenagers #Guidance #OpenHands

Concerns about the so called "Safe Supply Drug" Program in BC: 1️⃣ Toxicity of unregulated drug market remains unaddressed. 2️⃣ Overdose deaths have not decreased, with 2,224 in BC in 2021. 3️⃣ Public safety is at risk with increased public drug use. 4️⃣ Lack of support services perpetuates addiction cycle. BC NDP/Liberal Premier David Eby's recent plans to recriminalize public drug use shows a shift in government stance. Due to his lack of support in the polls , his about face looks like its purely out of self interest & self preservation. Drastic measures for identifying & addressing root causes of addiction, ensuring public safety, and providing support services is needed. Let’s work together and oust the NDP/Liberal government coalition from BC and tell them NO MORE so called "Safe Supply" paid for by tax payers and recriminalize hard drugs. We need to tell the NDP/LIBERAL's to Stop poisoning our community, secondly stop acting like you didn't create the problem. Jagmeet Singh is POISONING our province and our country by supporting the Liberals. He can put a vote of no confidence at any given time, but instead he chooses to flood British Colombia with Hard Drugs to poison British Colombians.
