South African Brands Join Forces for Social Impact 🌍 Ever wondered how brands can make a real difference? In South Africa, companies are proving the power of collaborative marketing. Brands are teaming up not just for profit, but for social good. From community development to environmental sustainability, these collaborations are creating real change. Take, for instance, a famous beverage company pairing with local farmers. They don't just share resources; they build sustainable farming practices that benefit everyone. Another example is retail giants supporting small local businesses. By integrating these smaller players into their supply chains, they promote economic growth and community welfare. These partnerships show that doing good is also good for business. What other South African brands or collaborations have you noticed making an impact? Let's discuss!👇 #SocialImpact #CollaborativeMarketing #SouthAfrica #spiral8studio #BrandCollaboration #Brands

Shadrack Agaki, a distinguished #Communication, #climatechange , and #foodsystem Consultant at the Office of the Member of Parliament, National Assembly, Parliament of Kenya. Shadrack took center stage at our recent #Safe and #Decent Work conference, offering illuminating perspectives on the ever-evolving concept of green jobs. In a thought-provoking exploration, Agaki delves into the nuanced challenges faced by our #agricultural Plantee enterprise, underscoring the absence of a universally agreed-upon definition for green jobs within the agricultural context. His impassioned address emphasizes the pivotal role of ensuring safe and decent work in agriculture, making a compelling case for a specialized toolkit tailored to the unique intricacies of the food system. Agaki intricately weaves the narrative from #toolkit conceptualization to actionable implementation, stressing the importance of customization for different audiences, especially considering the diverse practices of groups like pastoralists. Against the backdrop of the climate crisis, Agaki passionately #advocates for addressing climate-related challenges, positioning sustainable practices as the linchpin for resilience. Join us in unpacking Agaki's compelling insights as we collectively chart a course toward a sustainable, resilient, and equitable future in agriculture. #GreenJobs #ClimateAction #DecentWork #AgriculturalSustainability #ClimateResilience #KenyanAg Habitat for Humanity Halcyon Heifer International Humentum ICIPE - International Centre of Insect Physiology and Ecology) IDF Value Added Services Impact Amplifier Impact Hub Network Industrial Development Corporation Intellecap InterAction IFC - International Finance Corporation Invest Salone IREX Irish Aid Jakaya Mrisho Kikwete Foundation (JMKF) LEAP Africa The Lemelson Foundation Lutheran World Relief M-Kyala Ventures MacArthur Foundation Debit Card Worldwide MasterCard MBC Africa MEDA (Mennonite Economic Development Associates) Mercy Corps Miller Center for Social Entrepreneurship at Santa Clara University National Mentorship Movement New Energy Nexus Nyayo Moms Sokos Ongoza Open Capital Oxfam

Day 3: Ethical Business, Sustainable Innovations, and CSR The third day of the Africa Kidpreneur Summit began with an informative discussion on "Impacting Africa through Kingdom Enterprises." Young minds were engaged in the essence of ethical business practices, and the importance of doing business with integrity and avoiding corruption. The aspiring Kidpreneurs learned the value of building businesses that benefit society, paving the way for a brighter and more ethical future. The next session on Green Business session, which I had the honor of moderating, sparked discussions about sustainability. Four remarkable young minds who are forging tracks in sustainability across Africa were among the panelists. Jason, Rahim, Sharon, and Toluwamini, all aged 12 or 13, told their incredible stories. Jason upcycles plastic trash into planters, Rahim cultivates vegetables in a greenhouse and operates a daycare, Sharon advocates for environmental causes, and Toluwamini recycles waste into fashionable accessories. Their collective accomplishments captivated everyone, proving the great potential of youthful brains in Africa. The afternoon ended with a tree-planting activity, providing a touch of eco-consciousness to this day of inspiration, and a tour to Kenya's national museum. #KidpreneurSummit #africakidpreneursummit #AKS2023 #greenbusiness #sustainability #sustainabledevelopment #SDGs #kidpreneurs #africarising #africaninnovation #africakidpreneursummit2023 #Botswana

🌟 As we continue to celebrate Australian Made Week, we’re recognising some of the incredible Australian certified social enterprises making a positive impact. Meet Green Connect Illawarra 🍃 Green Connect create employment opportunities for people with barriers to employment, including young people, refugees, and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, in roles that care for people and the planet. They help businesses and councils reduce waste through zero waste services and provide staffing through their ethical labour hire. They also grow fair food for the Illawarra community on their urban permaculture farm in Warrawong and divert waste from landfill through two op shops. "Many grants and tenders ask if we are Social Traders certified, it is a way to demonstrate that we are a legitimate social enterprise. Otherwise, any business could claim to be a social enterprise. The waters are already muddy when it comes to distinguishing businesses that do good as a side project and those that do good at their core. We are proud to be certified by Social Traders. " - Robert Servine, General Manager – Green Connect Since 2017, we have been certifying social enterprises and have a world-leading and robust framework, tailored for the Australian market 🌟 There are over 600 certified social enterprises around the country. Find out if you’re ready to be certified: https://lnkd.in/gmjqagev #Business4Good #socialenterprise #AustralianMadeWeek

The goal of the Relinked Social Impact in Action Forum is to enhance a lifetime commitment to social impact. We are encouraging everyone to consistently and actively contribute to positive change in the entirety of their lives. That, instead of short-term charitable efforts, you will be empowered to go beyond occasional acts of benevolence, to an enduring practice of exploring, ideating, and co-creating solutions that address the pressing global challenges of our time, for posterity. We believe that things can be better, and the world can get better. We are upbeat to promote and rally efforts towards the actualization of Regenerative Futures; a concept that invites all of us to reimagine our relationship with the planet and envision a healthier ecosystem. This involves supporting people, places, and cultures to express their unique contributions to the health and vitality of our interconnected world. By doing so, we serve ourselves, our communities, and all life as a whole. It is also about nurturing interconnectedness, learning from nature, and creating a world where thriving is possible for all. The forthcoming 3rd edition of the forum will therefore explore how individuals and organizations can leverage mutual collaborations to enhance positive social impact and sustainable development and align their policies, strategies, initiatives, and impact objectives to shape an ecosystem where regenerative mindsets, cultures, and practices catalyze a new horizon of change. Join us on Friday, May 24, 2024, from 12:30 pm to 5:00 pm at the Kenya Comfort Hotel & Suites, Milimani, Nairobi, for a time of learning, connecting with others, and celebrating the extraordinary impact of organizations doing powerful work within their spheres of influence. 🌍Inclusive businesses operate with a vision to provide goods, services, and livelihoods to those at the economic base, making them an integral part of the business ecosystem and the value chain. 🌱 They are catalysts for growth, offering opportunities to those who need them most. They help individuals and communities break free from the cycle of poverty and unlock their full potential. 🌐The impact of inclusive businesses extends far beyond financial success. They also create lasting value for governments and companies alike. 🌾The #InclusiveBusiness in #Agriculture and #FoodSystems National Investment Forum organized by United Nations ESCAP, with the support of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and in collaboration with the Office of SMEs Promotion (OSMEP) of Thailand, seeks to identify concrete actions to promote inclusive business models and facilitate investments towards this sector. 💼 🔗For more information: http://bit.ly/488nSc4 Rupa Chanda Jonathan Wong Marta Pérez Cusó Ignacio Blanco Waisman Ishraq Fazal Srivalli Krishnan Wimonkan Kosumas

🚨 Some key takeaways from this year's UN's Food Systems Summit + Stocktaking Moment! Our coordinator, Julia Pinedo Gil, represented FUSILLI and attended the event this year among other 2000 participants from 161 countries! Some things stood out as highlights: 💡 𝙄𝙣𝙨𝙥𝙞𝙧𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝙛𝙧𝙤𝙢 𝙖𝙡𝙡 𝙖𝙧𝙤𝙪𝙣𝙙 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙜𝙡𝙤𝙗𝙚 From Norway, South Africa, Tanzania and Indonesia's commitments to sustainable blue economies; Lebanon using the power of legislation to catalyst food initiatives; Peru and Moroco harnessing urbanization and governance to improve food security; to Uganda strengthening collaboration between their food stakeholders - it takes a global movement to ensure #foodsecurity for all! 💰 𝙈𝙤𝙗𝙞𝙡𝙞𝙨𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙢𝙚𝙖𝙣𝙨 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙖 𝙛𝙤𝙤𝙙 𝙨𝙮𝙨𝙩𝙚𝙢 𝙩𝙧𝙖𝙣𝙨𝙛𝙤𝙧𝙢𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 No matter where, financial support is crucial to driving transformation. Public funds only go so far at times, thus the private sector and private investments gain a critical role. However, the private sector needs to prioritise #HealthOverProfit in order to support nutrition. In this aim, the World Bank has created a tool for the financial support of SMEs, farmers, and other key actors. 💻 𝘿𝙞𝙜𝙞𝙩𝙖𝙡𝙞𝙨𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝙖𝙨 𝙙𝙧𝙞𝙫𝙚𝙧 𝙤𝙛 𝙩𝙧𝙖𝙣𝙨𝙛𝙤𝙧𝙢𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 The use of new technology and digital solutions such as artificial intelligence, real-time analytics, and data platforms can push forward sustainability in the food system. Moreover, deployment of #digitalization could strengthen #inclusion by empowering the rural and farmer perspectives for a future food system that creates well-being for all Read on for Julia's full takeaways from the summit! 👇 https://lnkd.in/eyZ3BGKF
