Today is Juneteenth. While it was only recently established as a federal holiday, its history dates back to June 19, 1865. It was on that date that the Emancipation Proclamation was enforced in the state of Texas, freeing more than 250,000 enslaved black people by executive decree. Long celebrated by the African American community as a second Independence Day, Juneteenth is an important milestone in our nation’s history. We turn our attention to it today because, at Spinutech, #GetBetterEveryDay is about personal as well as professional growth. To grow as a person, you need to expand your worldview to include the perspectives and experiences of the people around you and see the world more clearly through their eyes. It also means learning from the past so we can move forward together towards a better future. To that end, we are proud to make Juneteenth a company holiday at Spinutech, and we encourage you to learn more about this important day in our history: https://s.si.edu/3Hsbgja #Spinutech #Juneteenth

Today in 1865, enslaved people in Texas learned of their freedom, two and a half years after the Emancipation Proclamation. Recognizing Juneteenth is not just about commemorating the end of slavery; it’s about acknowledging the true history and the long-delayed promise of freedom. Understanding and honoring this history is crucial because it helps us grasp the full scope of systemic racism, the resilience of Black communities, and the ongoing struggle for equity and justice. I'm excited to share this virtual workshop, hosted by the amazing Adrienne J. Lawrence, which educates and empowers organizations to embrace the key aspects of Juneteenth. Delve into the historical significance of Juneteenth and the barriers that impeded emancipation and explore actionable steps you can take to raise awareness and foster a culture of inclusivity within your organization. https://lnkd.in/eSvsWPsC #DEIB #Juneteenth #InclusiveLeader #Equity #Justice

Juneteenth marks the end of slavery in the United States. Its official designation as a federal holiday in 2021 was a long-overdue recognition of the terror experienced by Black Americans and of the freedom denied to them for hundreds of years. It’s also a day to celebrate progress and reinvigorate our advocacy against systemic racism and bias in all forms. Today, let's celebrate the progress we’ve made and continue to support one another as we strive for a more inclusive future. Whether through allyship, sponsorship, mentorship, or partnership, we all have an opportunity to uplift colleagues, include new people, and advance equity. In honor of Juneteenth, Aicha Evans, CEO of Zoox and the first Black woman on SAP's Supervisory Board, joined SAP’s Black Employee Network for a discussion on innovation, leadership, and the future of mobility. It's a great discussion with an incredible leader, and I encourage you to take a moment to watch. https://lnkd.in/gYCQpYUM #Juneteenth #Inclusion #Diversity #Equity #BENatSAP
