Yesterday I had the privilege of participating in a panel to discuss the much debated topic of whether brands should move from 1P to 3P, or hybrid, or the other direction. At Pattern® we encounter this question regularly - the short answer is always "it depends". We do though have some guidance and insight to help make the decision: 1️⃣ Over 60% of sales on Amazon now come from 3P sellers (Statisa) 2️⃣ Amazon isn't the only marketplace! Different marketplaces offer different models - understanding which ones you plan to partner with and their models will inform decision making 3️⃣ You need a clear channel strategy that aligns to your brand and capabilities 4️⃣ Hybrid can offer the best of both BUT doesn't solve all pain points 5️⃣ A data driven assortment strategy is critical for hybrid success 6️⃣ Make sure you have the right capabilities, or a strategy to fill those gaps either in-house or with external partners. Hybrid or 3P is often 'more work' without the right solutions in place. This is how I get Brand Approval for selling on Amazon within 2-3 calls Maximum! Step 1: I do in-depth research about the brand first. Step 2: I make notes about their pain points in my research and ensure I have the solution for those pain points. Step 3: I'll research the CXO position of people in the brand's company via LinkedIn. Step 4: I'll call the brand and directly ask to speak to the head position people I found on LinkedIn. Step 5: Will speak to them and tell them how I help brands win on Amazon with my services and consultation.
