City of Littleton, welcome to Urban SDK!
The city currently has a five-step traffic calming process of:
1) Citizen Complaint / Call to Action
2) Information Gathering
3) Temporary, Pop-Up Solution
4) Pilot Projects
5) Construction of Permanent Implementation
As part of the information gathering, officials will typically lay down hard-count tubes for around 48-hours. Urban SDK will enable more robust gathering of data, most especially when snowy roadways could not previously be counted.
Further, Urban SDK's traffic calming software will enable officials to quickly determine if areas of vulnerability fall within the city's traffic calming criteria, which will then decide whether a temporary or permanent traffic calming solution will be implemented.

We're proud to announce our newest partnership with the City of Littleton, Colorado, as they further their commitment to data-driven decision making with their traffic calming program. Exciting times ahead! 🌟

It’s no secret that real estate development has long been dominated by a particular demographic, but despite undeniable talent, women and people of color remain underrepresented. The REDI program is a great first step toward building a more inclusive and equitable industry.
The mentorship component of the program is invaluable. Our participants had the opportunity to learn directly from seasoned real estate professionals, gaining insight into the challenges and opportunities unique to our local community.
However, the core reason there is so little diversity in the real estate development industry can’t be ignored: access to equity and the ability to guarantee a loan.
Municipalities, corporations, and banks need to come together to establish first-in catalytic funding commitments as well as pre-development funding sources.
Microsoft, Facebook, Google, Amazon, and Apple have all dedicated funds specifically to address housing.
United Healthcare, Humana, and Blue Cross Blue Shield have dedicated funds to housing.
Bank of America and Wells Fargo have dedicated grant funding as well as low-interest patient funds to support minority developers.
We, here in Northwest Arkansas, need to find local partners willing to do the same.
Vice President | Commercial Lending First National Bank of NWA
Earlier this week I had the privilege to serve Urban Land Institute Northwest Arkansas by joining a judging panel for their newly launched REDI program. This night completed the program where four teams presented their development projects on land that is currently owned by the city of Rogers in the downtown core. Every team did a fantastic job! This program was led by Megan Brown (in photo) and Tiffany Hudson. Great job ladies!!
This is a cry for help.
I've had "Solsbury Hill" by Peter Gabriel stuck in my head for about two weeks now. I can't remember what my life was like before. I'm not sure who I am. Where I am. Why I am. Does my heart even go "boom boom boom" anymore?
Why is Peter Gabriel trying to commune with me psychically, and how do I let him know that he picked the wrong person for any sort of hill climbing? If anything, my entire life has been about NOT climbing up hills, let alone Solsbury Hill. I Googled it. It looks pretty steep. No thanks, Peter Gabriel.
Peter, if you're listening, I'm a very serious businessperson now. I have no space in my brain or heart for anything else. That being said, I have some questions.
▶ What's the ROI on climbing up this hill?
▶ Your lyrics suggest a strategic decision to leave behind the familiar. How did you weigh the potential risks and rewards as you climbed Solsbury Hill?
▶ What, in your view, was the opportunity cost of climbing Solsbury Hill, and how did the benefits outweigh the alternatives?
▶ What Key Performance Indicators would you associate with the decision to descend Solsbury Hill and make a new start?
Why couldn't it be "Sledgehammer"..............
When building a team, I always look for the skillset or mindset that I don't have. I fill those holes with the talent I don't possess, or our current team does not possess. By creating a well-balanced team full of a variety of skillsets and mindsets, we will challenge how we build, work, and think. We will push and stretch each other which in turn will create new methods, approaches, and solutions. When faced with a challenge or obstacle, do you want a team with multiple viewpoints and a variety of experiences, or do you want group think?
Not everyone or every company wants that type of approach or team because it is not always the easy way. This is why I like working for Marker, Inc.. At Marker, Inc., we want talented people from different backgrounds, different zip codes, different mindsets, and different experiences. Differences test us and make us better. Marker makes itself stronger, increases its innovation, and, therefore, is successful by recruiting, building, and retaining a team that reflects and represents the diversity of our community.
Our leadership believes in this philosophy, and we have passionate people who implement this philosophy. We have an internal drive but also seek assistance from great external partners like the Columbus Chamber of Commerce and Sherrice Sledge-Thomas. We thank them for increasing our knowledge and ability to move forward with our philosophy. Are we perfect? No, and we never will be. Are we driven by an incredible desire to succeed? Yes, and always will be!
Effective 1 January, Joe Wood, who currently serves as the Executive Director for Boulder Crest Arizona, will become the Vice President of Strategy and Operations for BCF.
As a result, we have an incredible opportunity to join the team and work at one of the most beautiful places on earth.
