One of the unique features of radiochromic dosimeter is its ability to change color when exposed to ionizing radiation such as X-ray. The higher the dose, the darker it becomes. The amount of absorbed dose can be measured using UV-Vis spectroscopy. The color changing involving many processes upon irradiation such as halocarbon radiolysis, production of free radical and oxidation. #dosimetry #radiation

The cell membrane is not a static structure. For example, during cell migration the membrane is highly dynamic. The migration cycle involves successive cycles of membrane protusion, adhesion to the substratum, forward propulsion of the cell body, and disengagement of the trailing edge. This DIC time-lapse movie of HUVEC cells (human umbilical vein endothelial cells) shows the active motion of the cell membrane, with cycles of transient protusions and retractions that facilitate the cell migration.
