Congratulations to all the teams that took part in the Shell Eco-marathon: Asia Pacific and Middle East 2024. We want to give a special shoutout to the winner of the SwRI-supported technical innovation award. Team 15, from the Mapua Institute of Technology in the Philippines took the top spot by modifying a standard thermodynamic Otto Cycle gasoline engine to operate as a more efficient, but less powerful Atkinson Cycle engine. This was done by altering valve timing and optimizing additional engine parameters. We also want to recognize the efforts of the 2024 SEM Asia Technical Innovation award runner up: Team 212 from the Beijing Institute of Technology in China. Team 212 analyzed and integrated a properly sized wheel hub motor that was retrofitted into an optimized and custom designed drive wheel. #ShellEcoMarathon #STEM https://ow.ly/6XmK50SxXg5
