❤️Every year 14-Mar is #WorldKidneyDay, A global campaign to raise awareness of kidney health and disease. Our kidneys are vital organs that perform many functions to keep our blood clean and balanced. 👉However, some of our habits can harm our kidneys and increase the risk of chronic kidney disease (#CKD), which affects about 10% of the world's population. 👉Here are some habits that can harm your kidneys and how to avoid them: • #OverusingPainkillers: Limit your use of painkillers and follow the recommended dosage. Consult your doctor before taking any medication if you have kidney disease. • #AbusingWithSalt or the salt shaker: Reduce your salt intake and avoid processed foods that are high in sodium. Use herbs and spices to flavor your food instead of salt. • #Dehydrated Not drinking enough water: Stay hydrated and drink about 1.5 to 2 liters of water per day. If you have kidney disease, consult your doctor for the appropriate amount of fluid intake. • #HoldingUrineForLongTime: Urinate when you feel the need and avoid holding it in for too long. Empty your bladder completely when you pee. • Eating too much red #meat: Limit your intake of animal protein and opt for more plant-based sources of protein. Balance your protein intake with fruits and vegetables. • Eating too much #sugar: Avoid or limit your consumption of sugary foods and drinks. Check the labels of packaged foods and avoid added sugar in your diet. • #Smoking: Quit smoking or avoid exposure to secondhand smoke. Have regular blood and urine tests to check your kidney function and adjust your dosage if needed. By avoiding these habits and adopting a healthy lifestyle, you can protect your kidneys and prevent or delay the progression of CKD.
