I posted earlier sharing the Humber Freeport update and thought I’d share this update from Freeport East which is in Felixstowe just down the East of England coastline. With Jayne & Hannah based in Immingham part of Humber Freeport and Ivan being Mayor of Harwich which is part of Felixstowe Freeport we actually are in quite a strong position to see what opportunities really exist for SoloPreneurs and Micro (1–11 employee ) Businesses from the 3 Counties of Beds Herts Bucks in these geographic areas in 2024 especially in :- Tech Property Transport Infrastructure Remember no part of the U.K. is more than 70 miles from the sea and these North Sea ports are directly opposite their mainland Europe neighbours in a range of countries from Norway to the very north down through Germany and Holland. Just as space scientists are looking at the Moon as a jumping off point to explore the Galaxy perhaps Solo/ Micros should be looking at these 2 Superports and of course East Midlands Freeport ( the only airport) in the broader East of England region as the way to access markets in mainland Europe and help turn UK’s Balance of Payments from a deficit to a surplus through increasing exports. It will need a “ sea change” ( geddit) in attitude from the Freeport Operators in Humber; Felixstowe and East Midlands to create level playing fields for such Solo/ Micros Btw is it a condition of employment in Freeport East that you have to be white ; suited ; booted; wear a tie and glasses ……and look bored stiff? What’s that word ….oh yes “ diversity????!!”

Transitioning to the private sector after 12 years in government was difficult, but I am grateful for all the training and experience along way that I can now take to the global level. This week I had the pleasure to meet colleagues from our Vilniaus and London office and lead several training sessions. It was a week full of meetings, developing relationships, coordinating with local officials, and learning a lot from my colleagues. Most importantly, it was an opportunity to look at their reality and programmatic needs to develop training aids that will help them accomplish their tasks, because we all know there is no one-size-fits-all solution! #training #Guidehouse #teambuilding #TTX #AlwaysLearning

It's rare for me to post on social media, but bear with me as I share some reflections this evening. In the dynamic world of education, collaboration between tertiary institutions and industry partners isn't just beneficial—it's a key ingredient in our shared success. Picture this: a student, eager to embark on their educational journey, steps into a classroom buzzing with the promise of real-world relevance. Here, industry partners aren't distant entities but vital collaborators, bringing with them insights and experiences that shape the curriculum students engage with. Students are not just learning; they're immersing themselves in the very fabric of their future careers. They move from novice to emerging professional. Networking opportunities emerge as students forge connections with professionals in their field. These interactions aren't fleeting encounters; they're pathways to internships, job placements, and future career opportunities. The collaboration doesn't end there. Educational institutions like EQUALS International strive to identify skill gaps with industry partners' guidance, ensuring course offerings evolve to meet the ever-changing demands of the job market. Students graduate not just with diplomas and degrees but with skills honed to meet industry expectations. Ultimately, collaboration with industry partners isn't just about preparing students for the workforce—it's about empowering them to thrive in an ever-changing world. As one of our valued industry partners, we are thrilled over our latest collaboration with Clinpath Pathology Sonic Healthcare - the opening of a new Clinpath site at EQUALS International's #adelaide city campus. This new site helps pave the way for improved employability and better job outcomes, something we all collectively want for our valued students. Through fostering these meaningful partnerships, we can drive innovation, enhance learning outcomes, and empower graduates to make a positive impact on society. Together, we’re not just shaping the future; we’re creating it, one collaborative effort at a time. Exciting times! Stay tuned for more to come. Hey, Deano, you’re mistaken. Fantastic! __ How Raised Kerbs work Questioning Use of TGSIs. __ If you’ve ever played team sports, you’ll know there are confident and inexperienced players. There are new ones and veterans of how things used to be done. Some people cheer the team on and others who fight their way to the club rooms after the match. Each of these people, In their own way, And, In their own time, Turn up. Participate. They create the culture. When we can give generously of knowledge, experiences and passions on a subject, we invite others like us, who care like we do and who speak, act and are passionate like we are, to make things better. We create community. If we continue to strive to be correct, perfect and right, we get the opposite of it. Individualism. This is where it comes about me, for me and at the price of you, us and eventually we. (Sounds like a climate crisis). When we play, coach and support as a team, we will get things that we didn’t expect; we get all sorts, all perspectives and sometimes things that we may disagree on. We also get belonging, identity and an opportunity for meaning and purpose. It’s also a lot a fun. We all know what we know until we learn something different. Respecting where people come from, what their experiences are and how they identify to these ideas is what a functioning community can offer. We just need to want it to be so. One of the things I love about working with Usborne is that it allows me to work my business, my way. There’s no set way of doing things - I can make it work for me, the way I want to do it. Personally, I do most of my business online or through friends and family. Other partners do a lot of stalls at events, some have huge teams and some have built their business on working with schools. No one way is ‘right’ - we all do things differently and Usborne allows us to explore what works for us. Because it’s so flexible, it also means it can evolve over time. When I first started I had no interest in building a team, but now having a team is something that I love. I was also terrified of working with schools and nurseries, but now it’s something I love and something I’d like to do more and more of. Not because that’s what Usborne tells me I should do, but because that’s how I want to run my business - my way. #lovemyjob #flexibleworking #workfromhome #workfromanywhere #businessmum

Culturally responsive executive leader and influencer, Churchill Fellow 2023, advocating for elevating services and partnerships with and for multicultural children and families.
As we head back to another working week I’m feeling reenergised following the ACWA 2024 Conference Working Together. Reflecting over the weekend and reviewing some great catch-ups and knowledge sharing I’ve re-set three key commitments: 1. Continue advocating for better data to guide the story that helps to better understand all children including the many from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds in care 2. Continue encouraging conversations that better hear the voice of children, parents and carers - and helps practices better value the importance of connections to culture, history, family, community and connections for all children 3. Reflecting on those strong loud words from the voice of lived experiences … Actions matter. Actions Let the next phase of working together begin…

Excellent initiative.
Minister Simon Harris today announced that Mullingar will be home to Ireland's first national training centre for electric vehicle skills. The centre, run by Longford Westmeath ETB, will be a critical component of the State’s response to the green transition, and will ensure that Irish workers are fully equipped to handle expanding skills requirements of electric vehicles. Minister Harris said: "This is the start of a really significant transition. “As the number of EVs on the road increases, a workforce with the knowledge to fix and properly maintain them will be needed. “It is clear to us we need a dedicated national centre to focus on the delivery of these key skills, while preparing for future technological advances. "This national centre will be based in the Midlands, in one of our growing towns and will be absolutely critical to delivery of the skills of the future.”
