Sound Transit’s Post

Sound Transit reposted this

Exciting news for Eastrail enthusiasts! Earlier this week we joined King County Executive Dow Constantine, Bellevue Mayor Lynne Robinson, and other community leaders to celebrate the opening of King County Parks' new trail bridge connecting Eastrail to Sound Transit's Wilburton Station! This 500-foot-long, 16-foot-wide bridge crosses NE 8th Street, one of Bellevue’s busiest streets, ensuring a safe and accessible path for pedestrians and cyclists. It’s not just a bridge – it’s a gateway to history, featuring public artwork that recognizes and honors the legacy of the Japanese American farming community of Bellevue.

  • King County Executive Dow Constantine, Bellevue Mayor Lynne Robinson, and other community leaders cut a large blue ribbon to celebrate the opening of the Eastrail bridge. They stand in front of a mural, their expressions filled with joy and accomplishment.
  • Aerial view of a trail bridge in Bellevue, spanning NE 8th Street. The bridge features a distinctive geometric design with a transparent roof adorned with colorful public artwork.
  • A group of Taiko drummers, dressed in vibrant traditional clothing, perform energetically on the Eastrail bridge.
  • A large group of people, including community members and officials, walk along a wide pathway leading to the new trail bridge in Bellevue.

About 3% of earth's water is fresh. Of that, only 1.2% is OK to drink.
