Glad I had the opportunity to speak to Charlie King at Sustainability Magazine about the importance of collaboration in the energy transition and how Schneider Electric is engaging our partner ecosystem to decarbonize their operations. https://lnkd.in/gvSCHgqQ As I explained, I believe we're at a point where all the stars are starting to align - green policy is ramping up, there are more digital energy solutions on the market than ever before, and investment in the energy transition is set to grow by 21% per year by 2033. To harness this momentum to maintain their license to operate and even differentiate, organizations need to work not only on their operation but their value chain (with suppliers AND customers) to decarbonize. We see our role reinforced to empower anyone willing to get there, and I strongly believe there is a way to make this in a smart and business-friendly manner. Why should SMEs start understanding their carbon footprint and act on it? Well... because : 1. Your customers will ask about it 📈 ✒ 2. You can make substantial money based on the insights you get. 💲 💲 💲 3. It will be mandatory sooner or later, wherever you are. ⛔ The introduction of CSRD in Europe has added pressure on businesses making business in Europe to report their scope 3 emissions. In Asia, there are only a few robust scope 3 regulation set, but momentum is building. In Hong Kong for example, it will be mandatory for largest listed firms to report their Scope 3 emissions starting in 2026. As this @SCMP article states, this means SMEs have to start tracking their emissions if they want to work with larger firms. https://shorturl.at/OCfDU. Frederic Godemel makes a good point that this is no easy feat. SMEs often lack the same knowledge and resources to benchmark and disclose progress.  The good news is that Sustainability education is now available and easy to consume. Partnerships are key to combat climate change & create the economy of tomorrow. Between Countries. Between industries. Between companies. Between individuals. Having called Singapore home for the past 5 years, I realize how it is particularly vulnerable to changing climate, regardless of its leadership on the topic. The @National Environment Agency's third National Climate Change Study outlines some of the environmental changes the country might experience in the next few years as result of global warming: - The average max temperature for each day could rise between 0.5°C and 5.3°C - Dry spells will become more regular - Rainy season is expected to get wetter by 58% - Sea levels could rise more than 1m in the worst case scenario This just shows the scale of the challenge. It also shows that regardless of which country you are, you won't be the solution nor can protect yourself alone.
