Climate Change and Community Resilience: Insights from South Asia - is a collection of research on climate change adaptation in South Asia. The final chapter provides an overall summary of what we have learned from this body of literature that came out from years of research. Here is a summary of the summaries - 1. The spatial, social, economic, and historical diversity of South Asia suggests that there is no single mechanism to ensure success in adaptation. 2. this book includes examples of both success stories and failures in community adaptation from the region. 3. Traditional knowledge, new innovations, sensitive state intervention, and market incentives all play a role in ensuring that community adaptation is optimal. 📣 The IPCC has initiated its seventh assessment cycle with plans to release new reports, including a Special Report on #ClimateChange and Cities and a Methodology Report on Short-lived #ClimateForcers. A new focus will be placed on Carbon Dioxide Removal Technologies and updating the 1994 IPCC Technical Guidelines. The cycle began after the Sixth Assessment Report, which played a key role at #COP28. Discussions continue about accelerating the reporting schedule to align with the 2028 global stocktake, balancing the need for speed with the quality and inclusiveness of the scientific process. In a crises-ridden age, I am always searching for future scenario's that spark my creativity and hope for a regenerative world. The book 'The Ministry for the Future' provides one such scenario. It took me a while to read through its multi-layered/ multi-voiced narratives, but the end left me with optimism and agency how we can counteract the climate crisis. 'The Ministry for the Future, then, is both an optimistic and a difficult work. Morally difficult for the role it envisions for violence, and sometimes a slow read for the many complex topics that must be explained along the way. But precisely because of the extra effort required, readers will finish Ministry with a clearer view of the big picture and a much better understanding of the many different pieces humanity must puzzle together to meet the challenge of climate change'. IPCC concluded its 60th Session in Istanbul, Türkiye 🇹🇷 early this morning with an agreed structure of work for its seventh cycle.   IPCC will deliver a set of reports assessing the latest #climatechange science during the seventh assessment cycle.   “The Panel has taken a critical step in plotting the course for the entire cycle. Their decisions reflect the interest of member governments in getting policy-relevant, timely and actionable scientific information as soon as possible and providing input to the 2028 second Global Stocktake. There is a notable emphasis on adaptation to #climatechange,” said IPCC Chair Jim Skea.  “Today’s decision is also a clear signal to the scientific community that the work on the new assessments of climate change science can now begin in earnest.” Read more ➡️ https://bit.ly/IP60Ist

It's nice to see that the IPCC AR7 Panel has included the delivery of a Methodology Report on Carbon Dioxide Removal Technologies, Carbon Capture Utilization and Storage, in addition to the previous Panel decision to produce a Special Report on Climate Change and Cities and a Methodology Report on Short-lived Climate Forcers. #IPCC #CitiesClimateChange
