Would you ever invest your money and time in something that doesn't have a solid foundation? Or where someone can change the rules and stop your business suddenly, no questions asked? I've been watching (and being part of) the publisher's ecosystem on the web for the last decade. A lot of good hardworking people, from one day to another, lost 70-90% of their revenue, if not all their business. And this story repeats year after year. For any reason that few people know or have control over, Google, Meta and other big players change the rules and their algorithms, killing personal and company projects and dreams. The AI hype is only one more part of the full context of the problem. Big techs de facto control what once we thought would be a neutral and public web. https://lnkd.in/g6ha8UhF

#Algorithms are the silent architects behind our online searches, social media feeds, and even navigation apps! They sort, filter, and recommend, influencing our choices more than we realize. This post is also appearing on your feed because you've engaged with content containing keywords related to algorithms. But here's the twist : Algorithms aren't just confined to the digital world! They're also at work in our offline lives, from the traffic lights that optimize traffic flow to the recommendations at your favorite restaurant. They're everywhere, orchestrating our world. So next time you're scrolling through your news feed or deciding what to watch on Netflix, Remember : Behind every suggestion lies a complex algorithm analyzing your preferences and behavior. It's like having a personal assistant guiding your choices! But, Be-aware of the algorithmic bubble! While they aim to personalize our experiences, They can also create echo chambers, reinforcing our existing beliefs and limiting our exposure to diverse perspectives. It's a delicate balance between convenience and diversity. Can you spot the algorithm in action today? Maybe it's in the song recommendations on your playlist or the route suggested by your GPS. Keep an eye out, and you'll start seeing their fingerprints all around you.

In the early days of the internet, Google was a revolutionary tool : The ultimate database of intent, that allowed anyone to find information online. However, as Google has grown in power, it has also become more opaque. The company's search algorithm is now a closely guarded secret, and it is increasingly difficult for new websites to get noticed. As a result, many people are now turning to social media for information. However, social media is not a reliable source of information, and it is often filled with echo chambers and misinformation. This is a worrying trend, as it means that people are increasingly getting their information from sources that are not trustworthy. This could have a negative impact on democracies as show in many election bound countries, as it could lead to people making decisions based on false information. It is now evident that the Google era is at its end. AI is everywhere, all at once.
