A jobseeker I spoke with recently applied for 150 jobs on LinkedIn. The results: - 130 applications were never viewed. - 15 of the remaining 20 applications received automatic rejections within minutes. He managed to secure 2 interviews: 1. An initial chat that went nowhere and candidate waits for reverts. 2. A promising interview that advanced to the next round, only for him to be ghosted afterward. This broken hiring process wastes everyone's time. It's time for companies to step up and overhaul their systems. Show respect to job seekers. Fix it now or if you are a recruiter, I urge you to have conversations with your team if you know your hiring process is broken. #jobsearching #jobseekers Credit: Neil Bhatt

Could not have said it better myself! These so called 'recruiters' whom jobseekers reach out too, pleading for even the minute iota of advice..... Get predominantly ignored, (which happens more often than not but if you are so lucky to get a response - it's generally shut down by some, one liner jib that "the role requires 5+ years of experience." .... like, that's not aiding in any way shape or form, this is your job people!! If your email signature says anything relating to, "talent recruitment... jobs advisor.... onboarding officer" you're up!!!! Motherf%$king assist these people to successfully gain employment or god help us all if this is the expected path! 🤯🤯😤 Gone are the days of good work ethic, especially among the youths. Hell, I'm approaching 30 and even I feel like an alien because I want to graft. I want that pay check at the end of a hard working week, I yearn for that self-accomplishment one gets because you've earnt all that you have. THE WORLD DOESN'T OWE YOU ANYTHING KIDS! Create your own destiny.

I've been out of work for two years this month. I've applied to about 240 positions here on Linkedin, another 125 or so on ZipRecruiter, and 200 on Indeed. I'll just stop there with at least three more sites that I use. This job search has been such a let down. I'm drained, discouraged, and depressed. Did you miss the part about TWO years unemployed? I didn't and I'm trying to miss it and forget about it. Ive been homeless for a year and a half doing everything in my power to keep going. I'm constantly searching for jobs and revising my resume. I'll do it all night because I barely sleep. However, it is not because I'm too good to sleep on a bench, or in the woods, or on the stairs. That road was crossed the first week. I don't sleep much because I hate waking up to this reality. I don't even know why I'm telling you this. But, no one will read it anyway and needed a venting spot. Thanks for not reading. Lol.

Unfortunately LinkedIn offers a platform these companies use to post jobs that don't exist. Other sites do it too. When you report them, nothing happens.  Companies rule the roost, because they are paying for the privilege. Labor is an expense, if they could do it without a human they would already be doing it. Recruiters reach out and ghost potential candidates all the time. I responded to one, and she said that they don't have the time to reach out and say you were not selected, no phone call, just a canned email response that they are moving forward with someone else. Their time is worth something, yours is not. It's the world we live in, and I don't see it getting better for job seekers. As long as people take the abuse, the behavior will continue.

The dirtiest thing I've ever encountered is the search for corporate work. It's a whole new level of disrespect. Asking candidates to complete hour-long test assignments or few levels of interview and then not even sending an auto-email. Are there any HR professionals here? Can anyone working in this field explain why it's so hard to show some respect and send at least an automatic rejection email? :) I really want to understand why this has become such a trend. Is the job market really that flooded with candidates?

The hiring process nowadays is incredibly frustrating and uncertain, especially for fresh graduates. Many companies are looking for candidates with 1+ or 2+ years of experience or are directly hiring interns from upcoming batches like 2025 or 2026, which is also rare. This leaves fresh graduates in a tough spot, as they struggle to gain the required experience if no one is willing to hire them in the first place. It's disheartening to see around 40% of our batch still unplaced, and the current job market only exacerbates the issue with companies not actively recruiting. Moreover, the situation is worsened by the fact that many companies are laying off employees without clear reasons, adding to the overall job market instability. Despite filling out numerous applications—over 250 in my case— and cold mailing and cold messaging over emails and LinkedIn respectively, there has been little to no response. This makes the job search process feel futile and contributes to a sense of depression and anxiety among fresh graduates. The seemingly contradictory actions of hiring and firing simultaneously by companies further complicate matters, making it appear as though the job market is a never-ending cycle of uncertainty and stress.

Most job posts on LinkedIn are fake. If you want real jobs, look for other, more boutique job boards relevant to the industry you're targeting. For larger companies, search directly on the company website. Good luck to current job seekers. If anyone is looking for an engineering manager or technical project manager, let me know! 🙂

System is rigged…. Got rejected because of lack of experience. Then how can we get the experience if we keep getting rejected.

100% true... i sent 100+ applications majority not viewed but the job posts are still active for weeks.. less than 10 were viewed but got no updates... more than 30 got autogenerated rejection email few minutes after application... 3 gave me a chance for interview... job post should have set maximum applicant to apply a number that a recruiter can handle to view, review and decide... not that more than 100 applicants can apply but recruiters will not even bother to view all applicants... we as applicants also investing our time...

HRs must stop the ancient process of having giant forms to fill up for applying for a job. It’s literally your job to read the resume not have other websites to copy paste details submitted in the resume already again. Let’s learn to ban automation in hiring, force manually reading to each applicant.
