🌊⚙️ The key to modern maritime propulsion: Did you know that an Austrian invented the marine propeller and brought it to technical maturity? Josef Ressel, an Austrian inventor, changed the world of marine travel with his revolutionary propeller design. Born in 1793, Ressel's journey began in Chrudim, part of the Habsburg Monarchy. His innovative design was first tested in 1827 in Trieste, the largest port of the Austrian Empire. Despite an early setback due to a steam engine explosion, Ressel's propeller soon became essential for modern marine engineering. Patented in 1827, Ressel's invention allowed ships to navigate more efficiently and powerfully. His design reduced drag and increased propulsion efficiency, making ship travel faster and more reliable. In that same year, Kongsberg Våpenfabrikk, one of Norway's first factories, is founded by Poul Steenstrup. In the following years, the factory is established, and production begins. It becomes a crucial defence supplier, securing its place in the young Norwegian business community, creating many local jobs. The rest is history. We have evolved from being a local manufacturer to becoming a global collaborator, producer, and innovator in security and technology. Since 1814, we have combined industry knowledge with an entrepreneurial spirit. And since then, we have tackled issues that require world class innovation. That cannot find life directly from the drawing board. That require deeper thinking, and exploration. Sometimes days, weeks, months, and years. Engineering, testing, fine-tuning. Attending the D-KULT Yearly Project Review Meeting, this time kindly hosted by the DLR (Deutsche Zentrum für Luft- und Raumfahrt) in Göttingen (https://www.dlr.de/de/as). - The D-KULT (Demonstrator for climate- and environment-friendly air transport) consortium researches and tests processes to reduce the climate impact of air traffic. It looks at how we can keep carbon dioxide and non-carbon-dioxide effects, noise and operational costs as low as possible. One key aim is to avoid persistent contrails and reducing non-carbon-dioxide effects at the same time through targeted planning of flight routes – both in simulation and on the basis of real flights. Our team recently embarked on a visit to Europort exhibition, a leading #maritime exhibition that serves as a platform for showcasing and exploring the latest advancements in the #naval industry Parmafluid peoples engaged with #industry leaders, gaining insights into cutting-edge technologies and forging valuable #connections. This exhibition provided a comprehensive overview of innovations in #hydraulic systems, essential for marine applications. The team, enriched by networking opportunities, deepened its understanding of market trends and emerging opportunities in the ever-evolving maritime sector. Our participation not only strengthened professional relationships but also equipped the team with knowledge crucial for staying at the forefront of the maritime and naval business landscape. For the hydraulics sector, #Europort2023 provided a unique opportunity to present systems, equipment and solutions. Hydraulic systems play a pivotal role in the maritime and naval sector due to their efficiency, reliability, and versatility and are crucial for various marine applications: - Power and Control: they are used to transmit power and control the movement of essential components in marine machinery. This includes functions such as steering mechanisms, crane operations, and cargo handling on ships. - Safety and Precision: The precision and controllability offered by hydraulic systems are vital in ensuring the safety and accuracy of maritime operations. From controlling the movement of ship components to managing heavy loads, hydraulics contribute to precise and secure maneuvers. - Lifting and Positioning: Hydraulic systems are commonly used in marine cranes and lifting equipment. Possible aerospace project in the Davao Region

Dear LinkedIn community As some of you might have known, Blue Crane Space has been designing a model rocket for the past 8 months now. Most parts of the rocket "BC Mk 1" like the flight computer, which was the most daunting of all, is complete. For a start, our target apogee was only 500m. Nonetheless we unfortunately encountered major logistical problems and a minor technical problem. The major logistical problem was the issue of a launch site. The SA Airforce were unfortunately unable to assist us due to the busy pretoria air space. The minor technical issue was that the optimum performance throat diameter of our nozzle was just too small and it brought about a headache to the machining of the motor. So with all that mentioned, the team and out-going leadership for the year 2023, has therefore decided to up scale the size of the rocket to make the machining process easy. These therefore means a higher amount of thrust and a need for a safer and suitable launch site. Blue Crane Space is now eying to launch at the only place where big rockets are launched in South Africa, OTR - OVERBERG TEST RANGE SITE!!! So plans and strategies are now in place to achieve this huge goal. Be on the lookout! The future is blue💙💙 #BLUECRANESPACE
