Question ? in these rural areas where patients cannot visit an outpatient center or a hospital , who does the debridements if it’s not a podiatrist or a doctor ? and if there is no debridement done how is this approach beneficial to the patient when the biofilm growth is present? If the biofilm is present, an infection is starting to take place, unless removed via exicional debridement or other type of debridement, most approaches will not be effective or less effective, prolonging the days to heal for the patient ultimately having the patient end up with an infection at the ER or worse and amputation. DFU, and or Wagner 3,s etc. etc. are an example
Dr. Windy Cole, DPM, CWSP, FACCWS, shared a groundbreaking study assessing the impact of remote assessment and monitoring tools in wound care, especially for patients in rural communities. Limited access to wound care has long been a challenge. This research suggests that a shared care approach, coupled with continuous topical oxygen therapy (cTOT), could be a game-changer.
