As a sales person, whether you are just starting your career, you lead a huge team, and everything in between, the message here is simple: you are never done developing and if you want to be #elite you have to keep working to get better. Get ready for some sports/sales analogy! 🏃♀️ This past weekend I ran in Bronx 10 Miles with the New York Road Runners. I ended proud of my efforts, as I gave it everything I had. Reflecting on the few weeks leading up to this race, I can’t help but draw the comparison to my work in conference sales. These past 4 weeks brought many new exciting experiences; diving into a new industry with IDGA, visiting my godchild in Pittsburgh, traveling to Austin for DTDT, a friends wedding on Long Island, and another trip to DC. However I managed to squeeze in training when ever I had a chance. Consistent, conscious, effort. Early morning runs before an long day at a conference, a quick run at night after BBQ, peloton rides when I was home, and some strength training sprinkled in. All leading up to the BIG day where you need to be ON. Or as my friend Matthew Laken would say, BEAST MODE all day. Sales takes the same Consistent, Concious effort. Daily prospecting, finding companies and people that are hyper relevant. Educating myself on industry needs and trends. Cold calls, warm calls, emails upon emails, and most importantly getting out and meeting prospective clients face to face. Which all leads up to the big day, conference day, when you get the opportunity to deliver on a great experience for clients. This ‘big’ accomplishments couldn’t have been achieved without the little wins along the way. A friendly reminder to all in sales, though the journey may be challenging, repetitive, and mundane at times, the consistent concious effort towards your goal, pays off. #accountability #consistency #sportssales #inspiration
