Time for #FAQ Friday!
To wind down the working week, we thought we would answer some of our more frequently asked questions:
⁃ What equipment do you have?
Alongside world class manufacturers, much of our equipment is designed in-house by our Engineer, Jack Foll. This means that all of our equipment can be quickly tailored and optimised to be sure that you receive the most accurate results.
Currently, our range of equipment includes; CPTs, vibrocorers, box corers, clam shell grabs, as well as a full range of smaller environmental grabs and trawls.
⁃ What depths can you achieve?
We have the capability to acquire marine geotechnical data up to 20m below seabed in water depths of up to 3000m.
#FunFact: We average approximately 1000 metres of seabed core samples annually - that’s 20 Olympic swimming pools!
⁃ Do you own your own vessel?
We own and operate MV FlatHolm - a 24m UK MCGA Certified survey vessel. She is also MLC, JNCC IMCA and COWRIE compliant; making her one of very few UK vessels available in her class that conforms fully with these specifications.
Also, earlier this year, MV FlatHolm had her towing hook reinstated and, after completing all of the official paperwork and bollard tests, she received her MECAL certificate and took on her maiden tow.
She can also be chartered, so contact us for more details!
⁃ Do you have your own labs?
Yes! Our labs are located in #Plymouth. As well as being able to offer our clients the ability to inspect cores as they land, our facilities also allow for long term storage. This means that customers can track and trend historical data with ease, which has proved invaluable in their decision making processes and future project planning.
This is a unique service within the industry so, if storage is proving to be an issue or you have historic samples that need moving, get in touch!
⁃ Are you ISO Certified?
We certainly are:
ISO 9001: Quality Management
ISO 14001: Environmental Management
ISO 45001: Health and Safety Management
As well as this, we are Achilles Gold registered, and we were also thrilled to be selected as one of Avettas’s Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) Leaders.
⁃ Where can you operate?
Whether your project takes place offshore, nearshore, in busy ports, within smaller harbours or even inland waters – we can do it!
