The French National Assembly approved a bill against the ultra-fast fashion industry. If the law is adopted, it will target brands such as Temu and Shein for their environmental impact. This law calls for a ban on advertising and messages that encourage buying ultra-fast fashion. As well as penalties of up to €10 per individual item of clothing by 2030. Although this law is not yet enforceable, and there is a long way still to go… it is a great first step towards shaping a more sustainable industry and holding brands accountable for their impact. What do you think? https://lnkd.in/evgHsyPt

Policy and Regulation in Sustainable Fashion Policymakers are taking proactive steps to enforce sustainability efforts in the fashion industry, albeit with differing approaches between the European Union and the United States. The EU is focusing on regulation, setting a net-zero emission target for 2050. This approach aims to ensure the future competitiveness and prosperity of the industry by mandating compliance and sustainability measures. While progress is evident, global targets for sustainable development are still far from being met. Policymakers are driving the fashion industry towards sustainability, but challenges remain in harmonizing regulations and enforcing eco-friendly practices globally.

🌟 The French Revolution of Fashion! 🌟 📢 The French parliament unanimously votes to curb fast fashion, acknowledging the disastrous impact of the textile industry. 🛑 Ultra fast fashion adverts set to be banned, with penalties proposed for low-cost clothing to cover their environmental impact. 🌱 MP Anne-Cécile Violland leads the charge for eco-conscious practices, emphasizing the urgent need for change. 🌿 The penalties collected would go towards funding sustainable clothing producers, empowering them to compete effectively. 🌍 With the average European consumer discarding 11 kilos of textiles annually, it's time for a cultural awakening towards sustainable fashion. The surge in short-lived fashion trends fuels overconsumption, perpetuating a cycle of constant renewal. With the new law, consumers and stakeholders in the industry would be forced to face the environmental, social, and economic consequences of their choices. This paradigm shift serves as inspiration for people worldwide to emulate, encouraging responsible decision-making and heralding a new era. #fastfashion #law #textilepollution #trashify #wastemanagement
