Key in MLK's astute quote is the ability to organise. People will not organise unless they FEEL a shared sense of purpose and will more easily organise when there is emotional engagement. People will be willing to sacrifice personally for a greater good they believe in. People centricity and servant leadership are great foundations for organising to purpose.
As leaders gather in Davos … an inspiring Martin Luther King Jr wisdom for peace seeking lovers ❤️ ☮️ … shown around Times Square NYC for Martin Luther King Day. Another one from him, for those nations that have made the poor investment choice on military defense over people’s wellbeing ! “A nation that continues year after year to spend more money on military defense than on programs of social uplift is approaching spiritual death.” I wish many leaders around the world and their people, and in Israel today 🇮🇱 could have that wisdom 🙏 ! #visionary #visionaryleadership #leadership #wisdom #wisdomquotes #martinlutherkingjr #martinlutherking

His brilliance as an international financier made Israel the wealthiest nation of the ancient world. He led Israel into its Golden Age. And he did it with integrity. King Solomon left us twenty-eight profound leadership strategies—as valid today as when the proverbs were written. The same extraordinary wisdom that transformed Solomon's world can revolutionize every aspect of leadership for any CEO, manager, pastor, coach, military strategist, or government leader. In The Leadership Wisdom of Solomon, Pat Williams, senior vice president of the NBA's Orlando Magic, applies Solomon's ancient insights to the high-speed world in which we live. The study sections promote discussion and prompt immediate action. #leadership #wisdom #solomon #insights #insightfull

Stillness in the face of chaos is an underrated leadership trait. The US’s founding father, George Washington's remarkable leadership at Valley Forge, is a great example of how being unflinching in the face of adversities can win you battles, both literally and figuratively. In the harsh winter of 1777-1778, Washington's army faced insurmountable odds – malnutrition, frostbite, and low morale. He could have panicked. He could have given in to this adversity. He could have retreated. But, he did not. Rather, amidst this turmoil, Washington displayed stoic resolve. He understood that leadership demanded more than frantic action; it required calm contemplation. He sought stillness in a time of turmoil. Washington used this period to instill discipline, train his troops, and refine his strategy. The result? A strengthened, unyielding force that would later secure America's independence. His ability to find stillness in chaos, to master himself before leading others, serves as a timeless lesson. In our personal and professional pursuits, the power of stillness can shape history. It's not merely the absence of noise but the presence of purpose. #Leadership #Stillness #resilience #stoicism #leaders

Today AALAM honors every veteran that has served our nation. Thank you for your service. We thought it fitting to share the famous 13 rules of leadership that one of the highest ranking and famous African American veterans shared with the world before his passing. Here are General Colin Powell’s 13 Rules of Leadership: • It ain’t as bad as you think! It will look better in the morning. • Get mad then get over it. • Avoid having your ego so close to your position that when your position falls, your ego goes with it. • It can be done. • Be careful what you choose. You may get it. • Don’t let adverse facts stand in the way of a good decision. • You can’t make someone else’s choices. You shouldn’t let someone else make yours. • Check small things. • Share credit. • Remain calm. Be kind. • Have a vision. Be demanding. • Don’t take counsel of your fears or naysayers. • Perpetual optimism is a force multiplier. #veteransday #leadership #service #AALAM

As we celebrate today our freedom and independence, it is crucial to remember the pivotal role that leadership played in shaping our nation's destiny. The leaders of the American Revolution possessed an unwavering vision and an indomitable spirit that inspired the members of 13 disparate colonies to unite against a formidable and well-established enemy. These leaders, through their courage, resilience, and strategic acumen, galvanized ordinary citizens to take extraordinary steps toward a common goal of liberty and self-determination. On this Independence Day, let us honor the legacy of these visionary leaders by reflecting on the qualities they embodied. As we enjoy the freedoms they fought so hard to secure, may we also strive to emulate their commitment to justice, equality, and the greater good. Let us be inspired by their example to lead with integrity and purpose in our own lives, contributing to the ongoing quest for a more perfect union. #leadership #IndependenceDay

Today marks 80 years since the D-Day landings – a game-changing moment in history. As someone from a military family, this day holds significant meaning for me. Reflecting on the bravery and sacrifice of those who stormed the beaches of Normandy, I'm reminded of some key leadership lessons: - Courage in Tough Times: The incredible bravery shown on D-Day teaches us to face challenges head-on, no matter how tough. - Teamwork Matters: The success of the Allied forces emphasises how important working together is to achieve big goals. - Be Ready to Adapt: The planning and flexibility during the operation highlight how being prepared yet adaptable is crucial. - Commitment to Something Bigger: Their dedication to a cause greater than themselves is a core value that drives true leadership. As we remember the heroes of D-Day, let’s honor their legacy by living these principles every day. Their sacrifice reminds us that true leadership is about service, resilience, and commitment to a greater good. Robert.
