The game of golf is truly an individual sport. The basics are the same for everyone; however, due to the differences in people’s body types no two people will ever have the same golf swing. Each person will have to adapt their bodies to perform a proper golf swing in their own way. Taking the time to develop your own method of playing golf will greatly improve your enjoyment and success at the game. Practicing the basic fundamentals of the game until they are entrenched in your muscles will lead to confidence on the course, and that confidence will lead to success and enjoyment of the game. Golf Swing Basics One of the most basic steps that you can put into action and see an immediate improvement to your golf swing is to keep your head still and look straight at the ball. The position of your head should be straight in line with your spine, and your nose should be raised up a bit so that when you start to swing, your left shoulder fits under your chin. Many players tuck their heads into their chests to try and keep their heads still and look straight down at the golf ball. Unfortunately, they cannot perform a proper golf swing while in this position.

Here are Ben Hogans notes (abridged). ⛳️When we arrive at the course for a round of golf: ✅1. “Get into your golf mind.” Check the environment, grab the small card diagram of the course and plot holes. ✅2. Hit 5 balls=1 putt, 2 irons, 2 drives be sure to feel your swing path groove. ✅3. Think about using loft to place the ball where you want it. Recall the diff between chips & pitch go over the methods. ✅4. Remember if you hit into the rough take 1 shot back to the fairway instead of 3 shots chopping grass. ✅5. Play safe shots instead of going for risky flag locations on the green (seek center). ✅6. Your bunker practice will pay off, hard or soft sand=dictates swing and wedge. ✅7. Leave negative anger in your car, on the course it destroys your game. ✅8. Have fun be positive remember every round all golfers mis-hit so let it go. Next shot will be better!!!!!! 😂The 19th hole have fun laugh smile enjoy friends, have a cold drink be positive and others will enjoy your discussion! Isn’t this the best part of life being outside playing. 🏌️On the course is subconscious play mostly feel. Save practice ideas conscious improvement techniques for the range! Jot down your greatest shots of the day to remember them. ❤️Plan a golf date with your wife, if single girl friend, or take the kids. Leave the competition at home, always be positive and everyone will enjoy playing golf with you.
