We can field all the equipment to Win our future conflicts and wars… but if you can’t send-recieve data/communicate, then we just caused a problem not provided a solution. Being a former SOF Fires Type, and now in the BLOS Satellite Communications world, I have all the question’s: in Precision Fires you need a serious level of mapping and data for the minserated requirements for the munition. How are soldiers on the move accomplishing this? I remember carrying a large terabyte Hd on me with all that mapping data, surely we have equipped these crews (FDCs/Targeting cells) with the appropriate BLOS bandwidth? “Expeditionary Environment Targeting” let’s say…. With the number of Rounds that can be hung in one short time period is there and ability to “keep up” with the precision targeting process. Lets talk BLOS Data requirements!

🚨New Occasional Paper, ‘Uncrewed Ground Systems: Organisational and Tactical Realities for Integration by Major Patrick Hinton, which explores the role of uncrewed ground systems (UGS) in military operations, is out now! Military experimentation with UGS is happening apace. They have the potential to support in a variety of roles, including logistics and reconnaissance missions, as well as the ability to be armed to provide additional firepower. There are predictions that they could play a major role within the British Army and that the force could comprise of 90,000 soldiers and 30,000 robots by 2030.However, there are substantial technological hurdles and organisational realities which need to be overcome before they are integrated into military forces and become a force multiplier. Our new paper explores factors required for the successful integration of these systems into military forces. It delves into three main questions about their application, deployment, and soldier engagement.
