We love to see this evaluation report coming out of Saskatchewan. The Saskatchewan Health Authority recently evaluated their peer support programming across the province, and had some key take-aways worth considering. The report highlights just how effective peer support services can be, and where there are resourcing gaps for these types of programs. Thekingsfund publish new report setting out why the health and care system in England must shift its focus away from hospital care to primary and community services if it is to be effective and sustainable. Despite successive governments repeating a vision of health and care services focused on communities rather than hospitals, that vision is very far from being achieved. This research explored the underlying factors that have prevented change, and what might need to be done to achieve the vision. This report is not about closing hospitals or moving existing services from one location to another, although the latter option may sometimes be appropriate. Rather, it is about a wholesale shift in the focus towards primary and community health and care across the domains of leadership, culture and implementation. This will free up every sector to provide the care that it is best equipped to deliver.

Akande to Tinubu: If there’ll be hope in renewed hope, work with state governors By Oluwafemi Popoola Former presidential aide, Laolu Akande, has urged President Bola Tinubu to collaborate with state governors to achieve his renewed hope agenda set in the areas of health and education development. Reviewing the President’s speech at the Executive Retreat, where he highlighted areas where he wants his impact to be immediately felt which are in the health and education sectors, Akande said, it is such a big deal for the Federal Government, the President and his ministers to understand that they cannot handle both areas alone.
