Anyone who’s dealt with budget cuts knows the frustration and stress of making do with less. Unfortunately, learning and development dollars seem to be one of the first cost-cutting areas when times are tough. But ultimately, learning and development helps close gaps while also anticipating what skills the organization will need to remain competitive long-term. When Corewell Health went through a significant merge, its learning and development team managed to protect its training investments by building and presenting an effective business case to leadership, creating a win-win situation for both itself and the company as a whole. In our 2024 IT Skills & Salary Survey, tech leaders shared that their teams have some of the widest skill gaps in artificial intelligence/machine learning skills. These days, the rate of change is just too fast for learning programs to keep up, and there aren't enough skilled workers in the market who can help all the organizations that have big plans with AI at the center. But tech leaders plan to address this issue and invest in training their teams, augmenting with outside help in the meantime, and even bringing in generative AI to bridge the gaps. A blended approach to closing skill gaps will pay off, too, but this begs the question: Which skills do you focus on? Learn more: https://lnkd.in/etcC_n6M

Last month, we published our 2024 C-Suite Perspectives Report, revealing that C-Suite executives are still experiencing technological skill gaps in their organizations even as AI has become a top investment area for many of them. Not only is it hard to both attract and hire candidates with the right skills, but the rate of technological change makes skills training difficult. However, new training approaches – ones that prioritize both non-traditional technical skills and “soft” skills – are beginning to close these gaps. In a groundbreaking move, Colorado has become the first state to enact comprehensive legislation aimed at regulating artificial intelligence (AI). Known as the Colorado AI Act, the new law introduces a framework for the ethical and transparent use of AI, aiming to address concerns around its potential biases, data privacy issues, and overall impact on society. But what does this mean for compliance professionals? And what does your team need to know about similar state or federal acts it might inspire? Learn more: https://lnkd.in/eUne2zwG
