Why bother?? I felt so annoyed when I heard this and really upset for my team too. I genuinely don't think some people understand what goes into translation and what a skill it actually is. The linguists we work with are highly qualified and have spent years honing their craft. They know how to produce not only a grammatically correct and fluent piece of text, but one that is also appropriate for the relevant industry. So why would a client think it's ok to reject our work based on feedback from a relatively inexperienced colleague, with no previous translation experience? To assume that this person's opinion is more accurate than that of not one, but two experienced, translators who have worked together to produce the final version? Yes, the colleague is a native speaker of the language but that doesn't qualify them as a translator. Translation is definitely subjective and there is always more than one way to compose a sentence so personal preference will always be a factor. But that doesn't make one version right and another version wrong - they're just different, variations of the same thing. I know it's difficult for clients to verify or quality check but there needs to be some understanding that it's not black and white.

I translate & write your beauty content! ✨ Marketing Translation | Copywriting | Global Content Strategy
True or false: Do translators always understand everything they translate? 🤔 Let me debunk this myth right away: Being a translator is not just about knowing two or more languages, it's about understanding cultures, nuances, and context. It's about grasping the essence of a message and delivering it flawlessly in another language. Translation is an art that goes beyond words; it's a deep dive into the heart of a brand's identity. It's about capturing the essence of a product and its story, and then weaving it seamlessly into the fabric of a different culture. We're not encyclopedias or dictionaries on legs, but we are skilled in researching information and terminology. Plus, we aren't afraid to ask our clients questions to ensure we get it right. Sure, we may not always understand every single word, but we certainly understand the essence, the intent, and the message. And that's what makes the magic happen. ✨ So, next time you think a translator simply converts words from one language to another, think again. We're more like cultural magicians, bridging the gaps and connecting brands with audiences around the world. 🧙 #Translation #Localization #Languages

Have you ever wondered, why is quality in translations so critical?🤔 The ability to accurately transmit information from one language to another is paramount, especially in our tech-hungry world where everything moves faster than ever. Imagine providing a user manual for a delicate piece of equipment, instructions can't afford to be misinterpreted due to poor translation. That's precisely where quality comes in. This doesn't only mean the translator’s language skills but also their understanding of the culture linked with the language. A good translator must have a deep understanding of the context, hidden meanings, nuances and idioms that make up the fabric of a culture. In a nutshell, translations should not only sound native but read native too. They should carry the essence of the original text, with all its intricacies intact. Because information lost in translation can potentially mean lost opportunities and misunderstandings. So let’s appreciate our committed translators who ensure clarity across borders! 🌐

🌍 Italian Translator & SEO Copywriter specializing in 👉 Marketing, Business Software and Cybersecurity >> I help small organizations to create/translate clear, accurate, and informative content for their audience
What about translation quality? I was reading a post earlier this morning, where this fellow translator said we should speak the same language as clients, so they can perceive the value we bring to their business. I agree with him, but I also disagree: after 15 years in this industry, I've seen many people that are simply not able to assess the quality of content, not from a linguistic point of view and less from a performance point of view. So, my question is "how can you help your client to see and even measure the quality of your work?"

When translating acronyms, a translator should first determine whether the acronym is widely recognized in the target language or if it needs to be expanded for clarity. If the acronym is specific to a particular field or industry, it's essential to provide the full term followed by the acronym in parentheses upon its first occurrence. This ensures that the audience understands its meaning. In cases where the acronym is not commonly known or could cause confusion, the translator should break it down into its full form in the target language and, if necessary, create an appropriate equivalent acronym. Throughout the text, consistency is key; therefore, the chosen format should be maintained to avoid any misunderstanding. Additionally, the translator should consider cultural and linguistic nuances to ensure that the acronym and its expanded form are both accurate and relevant to the target audience.
