AWS Regions provide fault isolation boundaries that prevent correlated failure and contain the impact from AWS service impairments to a single Region when they occur. You can use these fault boundaries to build multi-Region applications that consist of independent, fault-isolated replicas in each Region that limit shared fate scenarios. This allows you to build multi-Region applications and leverage a spectrum of approaches from backup and restore to pilot light to active/active to implement your multi-Region architecture. However, applications typically don’t operate in isolation; consider both the components you will use and their dependencies as part of your failover strategy. Generally, multiple applications make up what we refer to as a user story, a specific capability offered to an end user, like “posting a picture and caption on a social media app” or “checking out on an e-commerce site”. Because of this, you should develop an organizational multi-Region failover strategy that provides the necessary coordination and consistency to make your approach successful. #AWS #AmazonWebServices #AWSBlogs #Cloud #CloudComputing #AppConfig https://lnkd.in/dUpC-zVP

Did you know that by 2025, over 95% of new digital workloads will be on cloud-native platforms, according to Gartner? 🤔 Embracing cloud-native technologies can turbocharge your development cycles and boost operational efficiency. But that's not all – organizations are now prioritizing cloud portability, the ability to seamlessly move applications and data between cloud environments, whether public or private. It's a game-changer for resilience and risk mitigation. The key to achieving fault tolerance and cloud portability is running your apps across multiple clouds. However, it can be challenging if your architecture relies on legacy software or proprietary tools tied to a single cloud. Read the whole article titled: “Multi-cloud architecture: Three real-world examples from fintech”, written by Cassie McAllister here: https://lnkd.in/dqizTcar The good news is that with the NebulOuS, achieving this flexibility is even easier. A very common question from AWS customers is about how to implement a multi-Region failover strategy. It's understandable from a continuity of operations perspective, and in this article AWS Financial Services breaks down some of the mechanisms and considerations for planning. I'd only add that "failover" can be more nuanced than it first appears. Your applications run on stacks of technology and failover discussions can be mired in the old days when the major worry was a fire at the data center taking out everything. In a connected, service driven world, your web of dependency has a number of strands and requires a more engaged approach around what failover means, when it's triggered and when/how to fail back. AWS helps thousands of customers manage their continuity of operations with all-in and hybrid cloud computing solutions. When you're ready to review that need for your organization, let's talk.
