Just participated in a webinar hosted by the School of Education on the topic of "Effectiveness of Corporate Training: How to Design and Evaluate Results?". We discussed ways to assess the effectiveness of training, considering that education often has a delayed and highly individual impact on each participant, while business clients require measurable indicators and visible outcomes. Key Takeaways: 1) Don't expect the business client to have a well-defined business goal. You will formulate it together during discussions. Your task is to facilitate this process. An example of a poor goal would be simply to provide training or introduce a new framework. A good goal would be to reduce the number of errors made by junior developers. 2) Metrics go beyond just NPS (Net Promoter Score) and CSI (Customer Satisfaction Index). If the client comes with a problem, it means they are already analyzing something—identify point A with them and then formulate point B. Example of a good metrics include a 20% reduction in errors, fewer instances of junior developers seeking assistance from middle developers. Other metrics include the confidence level of participants before and after training, as well as feedback from supervisors 3-6 months post-training. 3) Don't despair if there's a training failure. Analyze all stages of development, conduct interim surveys of participants during training, pilot the training before the main launch. 4) Consider various tools when developing training. There's a resource I developed with my team at SberUniversity—the EduTech Laboratory, but it's only available in Russian and requires a VPN if you're not in Russia: https://lnkd.in/eGT-zihq.

I help companies and teams accelerate growth by creating a culture of high performance and operational excellence with my signature systems and evidence-based strategies.
Since I've been hired many times to bring calm to the chaos, I've learned to look for potential solutions within the challenges. One example of this is when I've provided end-user software training to large corporations. The apparent weakness I needed to transform into a strength was the largely manual and personalized approach to the training, which may seem slower and less scalable compared to automated e-learning platforms. Here's how I turned this apparent weakness into a unique selling point: ✅ Personalized Learning Journeys: I reframe the manual approach to emphasize "personalized learning journeys." Instead of a one-size-fits-all, automated training, I showcase the ability to tailor training to the unique needs of each company and its employees. I've found that most large companies actually prefer this custom approach. ✅ Human-Centered Training: I emphasize that experienced experts provide not only technical knowledge but also valuable insights into best practices and real-world applications. This human-centered approach makes the training more engaging and effective. Once again, I've found that large companies prefer this personalization to some out-of-the-box, pre-packaged option. ✅ Real-Time Adaptability: The manual approach allows for real-time adaptability, as I can adjust the training based on the audience's feedback and needs, making the learning experience highly dynamic. For example, I've provided a survey at the end of each class to incorporate updates as needed, which ensured that the training continually improved to meet the client's ever-changing needs. ✅ Industry-Specific Expertise: I highlight industry-specific expertise. This knowledge is invaluable for clients who need software training customized to their specific sector. While some use proprietary software, others simply use less commonly used programs. ✅ Building Trust: The manual approach is seen as more trustworthy, ensuring the training content is up-to-date and relevant. This is a key selling point, especially for companies in heavily regulated industries. While the process may appear slower than automated training, providing bespoke human-driven offers is a hallmark of quality and effectiveness. In an era of one-click e-learning, this approach appeals to companies looking for high-impact, customized training solutions with a human touch. I believe this also demonstrates how innovative thinking can reframe perceived weaknesses into sustainable assets and unique selling points, ultimately helping me stand out in the industry and provide a much-needed desirable service to those looking to benefit from it.
