(Sustainable Learning) I get this question a lot from training participants after training on what to do so they won't forget what they have learnt so far. I would respond by highlighting ways to sustain what you have learnt from online courses whether (paid or free) by using the word O.N.L.I.N.E. O - Open your mind to how you can use what you have learnt to solve problems around you or at where you work. N - Network with people or communities that use the same or similar skills that you have learnt so they can be optimized either as a volunteer or freelancer. L - Learn more about what you have learnt either as a refresher course or upgrade courses so as to make the skill active and not passive. I - Internship opportunities can be a smart move of harnessing your skill to optimal use by collaborating with teams to handle projects and solve a problem. N- Note review of steps taking while taking the class. I encourage people to take explicit notes during courses which shows the detailed practical steps of how a task was done or the processes involved in accomplishing a task or project with the skills learnt. E- Educate people with your skills. You can do this by volunteering to take courses based on your skills freely or at a subsidized fee with the sole intention of putting your skills into maximal utilization. Learning Streak: Acquiring Skills and Thriving in an Internship Journey. Embarking on an internship journey presents a unique opportunity for personal growth and skill development. My time at my current workplace, I have had the privilege of being part of a dynamic team, contributing to the product development unit, and assisting the Business support unit. In this post, I want to share some of the valuable learnings and skills I have acquired during this internship, emphasizing teamwork, product development challenges, and the enhancement of communication and writing skills. 1. Embracing Teamwork: Working within the product development team under the supervision of Omokaro Ovakporayen Unuakpor, CBAP® has been an integral part of my internship experience. Collaborating with amazing colleagues like Mujeeb Opeyemi Muraina and Joel Adeniyi has taught me the value of effective teamwork. I have learned to share ideas, respect differing opinions, and contribute to collective goals. This experience has not only improved my ability to work harmoniously with others but has also enhanced my problem-solving skills through collective brainstorming. 2. Navigating Product Development Challenges: Assisting Mujeeb Opeyemi Muraina and Oluwatooni Akinola in making the newly launched product (volunteer network) a success and engaging product and also finding ways to improve the product was a significant challenge. This opportunity allowed me to apply creativity and critical thinking in addressing challenges. As I explored innovative ideas, I learned to appreciate the iterative nature of product development and the importance of feedback loops to continuously enhance the product. 3. Assisting the Business Support Unit: Erics-Sobukonla Oluwafunmilayo guidance has exposed me to the world of grassroot engagement and webinars. Preparing for these engagements has been a valuable learning experience. I learned to organize effectively. My exposure to moderating webinars and business clinics honed my communication skills and enabled me to facilitate meaningful discussions among participants. 4. Acquiring Writing Skills: One of the highlights of my internship has contributing to the creation of concept papers for new product launches. Writing these papers required clarity, conciseness, and persuasive communication. By engaging in this process, my writing skills have significantly improved. I learned to craft compelling narratives that effectively convey ideas and drive a call-to-action. 5. Enhancing Communication Skills: As I interacted with various teams across the organization, my communication skills saw remarkable growth. My internship journey has been a continuous learning streak, filled with challenges and achievements. I am immensely grateful for the guidance and support I have been receiving so far, as they have been instrumental in my growth.
